anyone see the remake of Maniac? It's on Netflix and pretty brutal.
Yeah. Better than the original but not my cup of tea. I'm not into scalping and cutting ankles. Shit creeps me out. I also grew tired of the killer POV shots. A bit overkill. Elijah Wood plays a stunningly good psycho and the soundtrack was damn good.
the original Maniac with Joe Spinell is one of the best horror movie ever man. I didn't expect much from this remake but I found it surprinsingly quite good and brutal. Good atmosphere, and the fact that they chose Elijah Wood who is a good looking young boy compared to the fat and ugly Joe Spinell was a brilliant idea too.
In recent movies I watched at the theatre, (well, it was last year)I totally dug Killer Joe. The final scene was incredible!
Also, if you like gritty and pretty brutal jail movies, watch GHOSTS OF THE CIVIL DEAD. The script and the score was done by Nick Cave, who also plays a role in the flick.
