I do the same thing...I tear down my drums literally as the last note is played.

Yes I could move them...but gimme 5 minutes and I move them torn down and out the fucking door thereby creating room for more people and the other bands stuff.

Its not that difficult

Thats why I'm all about bands sharing equipment and speeding up the process.

I'm always irritated at bands that wont do that as if the music they play...which is a variation of "duhduhduhduhduh blah blah blah" needs the subtle nuances that their
specialized combination of equipment, star alignment and alcohol/people balance only brings.

Its noisy semi inept cheap swill craprock...tune your stupid 60s hipster knockoff during the band before you..set the fuck up fast..play the fucking 20 minutes and tear the fuck down the minute the last note is done...

I do the Grmpus Room in Tucson, A semi-collective all-ages dump-a-roo...

Early to me means...

Doors open at 7:30...First band goes on at 8-8:30. On rare "band is superlate" occasions I will have someone go on at 9.

I try not to book more then four bands...and try to get at least two o f them to share either drums or bass cab or both to cut down on teardown setup times.

The goal:

Monday thru Thurs nite shows end by 10:30. Yup. I'm a good neighbor and that means no schoolnite noise complaints filed against me and no non compliance as a tenant thus club stays open.

Friday thru sometimes Sunday...I add a few more bands...do the sharing thing and have the last band hit the carpet by midnite.

I do like to bookend local bands...so someone local gets the ball rolling and a popular local closes it out..thus giving the sweetspot to the OOT bands

The door:

Locals donate their time and rockaction for the out of towners...thus they OOT bands get all the door. I charge a dollar a band...

Sorry to ramble..early shows mean early start. You stick to an early time and eventually the locals figure out its not idle jibberjabber

I always get caught if I'm not "mr sparkplug firecracker supervolt of fucking charisma" and get the "what the fucks is wrong with you waa waa waa waa" song and dance.

I never get to get away with the Mark E Smith method

its not fair

I've been on cruise control in almost every music project I've been in for years...

I took a nap in my car recently while waiting for three PUNKROCKGARAGE bands to play and stop so I can set up play and go home...

That was super cranky grandpappy awesome.

I wish there was a retirement package for this nonsense...

It's getting hot, do you think Grumpus be playable by June?  The Traditional Fools need a show on June 3rd...  they didn't believe me when I said it may just be too fucking hot up in this mug.

Well...it should be. the swamp cooler cranks literally right over the band (directly in front of that loft/pinata cage

we (standard deviance) had it going while we rehearsed yesterday and it was fine. it ll still be hell muggy with 70+ people and band but theres no crying in punk rock

June 3rd will be hot...and it will stay so till Oct so what the hell why not do it?

I'm even gonna fix the xmas lights...

BTW this place is small...share everything you can

The Sonoran hot dog, found in Tucson, Metro Phoenix, and in neighboring Sonora, Mexico, is a hot dog grilled in a processor or on a griddle, wrapped in Mesquite-smoked bacon, topped with freshly-chopped tomatoes, onions, shredded yellow or cotijo cheese, tomatillo salsa or red chile sauce, pinto beans, mayonnaise and served on a fresh baked roll . Often served with a fresh-roasted chile.

Fuck yes....and El Guero Canelo serves up the best here in Tucson. Any TermBo bands playing my dopey venue (Grumpus Room) need only ask me and we will make a mad dash and snare a few. Plus they sell mexican cokes in green glass bottles to wash it down

Let me know of any show going down in your venue.  I'll make the trek to Tucson just for that.  I don't think anything sounds better than an awesome Mexican hot dog followed by a night of drinking and rock-nroll.

There is a double dose of loud foolishness on Saturday April 5th...(my 42nd beeday)

Buncha bands at Grumpus room at 8 pm (1230 S. 4th ave #138) then at about
11:30 another four bands at Vaudeville (Congress St).

Alls I know is one of my bands, Standard Deviance is playing the Grumpus show and then other one of my bands, Pop Gestapo, is playing at Vaudeville.

I have no Idea who the other 7 bands are for that evening. More then likely punk/loud/smell like beer and basic cigs...

Someone needs to "re-issue" that first LP in a limited quantity...I'll bet they will fly out the door.
