Upcoming Shows/Tours/Events / Re: SXSW 2012 THREAD
« on: March 21, 2012, 07:21:18 AM »
I got a kidney infection and a fever of 103 at approx 3 p.m. on thrs of SXSW.

The only band I saw that wasn't on my showcase was Unholy Two.  Lutzko, whose the chick that plays in yr band?  I feel like I know her.  Good work on getting the hottest chick in the room to be in yr band, BUT does she know how to play the guitar?   :o

hahaha.... that's Becca.  you've probably seen her around in Cbus.  she is crazy hot.  I can't ever really hear her but I do think that adding her to the lineup made them 10x cooler.

I'm curious to read the opinions in which Florida courts have interpreted the law to mean, essentially, that any act of physical aggression = "threat of great bodily harm."

seems like they just kind of gloss over that part in favor of getting to the "here's where you get to shoot yer gun!!  WOOOOOO!!" part

I just read a NYT article saying that since the SYG law was enacted Florida has seen a huge spike in "justifiable homicides."  Nice work, guys!

oh yeah I saw that too.  this is working fantastically!

my entire knowledge of the legal system comes from TV cop shows, so I might not be understanding this right, but it seems to me that the Castle Doctrine would be much less ambiguous, because of course you can't "retreat" from your own home.  someone's in your house and you didn't invite them in, you have the right to use lethal force on them, with certain conditions.  on the street it seems like an open invitation to kick some ass and then insist that you had no choice in the matter because you needed to defend yourself.

But "Stand Your Ground" is an extension of the castle doctrine, and the same rule applies: you can only invoke it if you're at risk of death or great bodily harm.  WTF?

dude, this young man had Skittles.  SKITTLES.  WHO'S TO SAY WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED??

It's a shame that the Facebook photo of that kid is making the rounds, as if to prove that Zimmerman was justified in what he did.  He looks like a teenager, dressed like a teenager, doing the kinda stupid shit that teenagers do.

DOUBLE MIDDLE FINGER!1!  the insolence!  the THUGGERY!!

I think that has more to do with the "Stand Your Ground" law that FL enacted; from what I understand, it means that you can claim self-defense without having attempted to retreat or leave the scene first, proving that you were under attack.  a shoot-first-ask-questions-later kind of thing.

I'm sure he's lovely.  I just don't respect internet trolls.  especially when they're not anonymous.  why would you troll so hard on this particular subject unless you were an actual dickhead?

And, in any event, 1 nice film/TV/commercial placement will "outsell" and out-margin anything...

seems like the upshot of this whole thing.  it's amazing to me that anyone would try to make money off of attempting to get people to PAY for music anymore.
