Re: White Stripes 1st 3 LP's

Depends.  Are they the SFTRI presses or the XL UK represses?  My understanding is the SFTRI press run was 1,000 each.  If that's what you have, then you are getting lowballed.  If it's the XL label, then you are not.
(IMO, obligatory take it with a grain of salt and all that...)

There are a couple of artisanal bars out of France that I like most.  They are Michel Cluizel's single bean varietal out of Ecuador (It's in an orange package) and Bernard Castelain's "Chocolat Noir Tradition 71%" dark chocolate bar.  Though if you like it more bitter (less sugar) the 77% dark is pretty tasty as well.

Both go extremely well with narcotics...

Denkinger:

My user name is all you need to know about my release.  Another hint:
Think Suomi.

Also, I'm in no hurry to unload my remaining copies.....(The fiancee hasn't issued the "get this shit out of the house" command just yet)

I'm with Scott by thinking you'd be wiser to go with a 7" rather than a LP.
Cost-wise if it tanks, you're not out THAT much $$, and if it does really well, then that's why they have "2nd pressings".  Based on my VERY limited experience, there was actually no cost difference in pressing up 500 as opposed to 300 at the plant I used.  It's been 3 years since I released my ahem, single, and I'm still sitting on 200 of my 500 copies. (And this is for a band/single that's been pretty highly praised amongst the kbd cognoscenti. I just did a lame-ass job of marketing the thing...)

Used Records For Sale/Auctions/Wantlists / Re: GEMM

Re: Shipping

GEMM is obviously not a single entity.  Anyone with some records, a computer and basic knowledge of MS Excel can be a GEMM seller, so I'm not surprised to hear of the rudimentary interpretations people have of what constitutes secure shipping.  I don't think their feedback system is sensitive enough to account for substandard or barely acceptable transactions.  But I will agree that I generally stick to 4 and 5 star sellers.  But keep in mind that that 10 point system is notoriously skewed toward "fill rate", so if a seller doesn't update their catalog accurately (after they sell out of an item), and still does everything else perfectly, you could still look like a 1 or 2 star seller.

Yes, I've spent more time thinking about this than I should, but in doing so it's helped me appear to be a better GEMM seller which pays off in the long run.  I can't tell you how many times I've been surprised so far by what I've sold and for how much.  Definitely falls under "Go figure".

Cheers.

You have to be careful when you order through GEMM.  Often your confirmation will not include the final price with shipping.  It can be somewhat of a shock if the seller decides to gouge you after the fact.  To prevent that from happening, it never hurts to contact the seller directly (contact info is available on the "welcome" page)prior to the sale to confirm shipping prices. The other weird aspect is that GEMM applies the 15% surcharge that some selllers use to shipping as well, which strikes me as sneaky in a PayPal/eBay kinda way. Plus, if you don't hear back in a timely fashion (and that happens way to often with GEMM unfortunately) you can get a sense whether this is a seller you want to deal with anyway. As they say, "caveat emptor".

With regards to finding interesting records.  As a seller, I sense that there aren't too many "kbd" type sellers extant (I'll pretend that Stoopid doesn't exist given the ridiculous prices he's asking.  Whaddya expect from an avowed Libertarian??), but that could change in the future....

I don't know, but I thought "Random Bombing" was top notch from the moment I got it back in '98.  I think it's the Melt Banana/Erectors whacked-out femme vocals that took it up a couple of notches.  But hey, I'm new here...
