New Releases For Sale/Distro Updates / Color TV "S/T" LP on Deranged
« on: November 12, 2018, 01:07:34 PM »

"After concocting a batch of 7-inch singles that leaked from various Twin Cities basements, here is the debut LP from Color TV?speedy punk rock that slaps with tight bursts of melody and quirk, filled with the sardonic musings of living in the sci-fi dystopian hellscape that is the now. Heavily influenced by early UK punk and USHC with subtle underpinnings of bands like Sparks and Ultravox, this is punk music clearly made by lifers obsessed with the underground counter-culture. Come, children, time to gather around and drink the electric Kool-Aid of C-TV."

New Releases For Sale/Distro Updates / Color TV EP
« on: August 12, 2016, 11:01:37 AM »

New 7" EP out this fall on Deranged Records with Midwest tour (Omaha, Iowa City, Chicago, Minneapolis) to follow.

Pre-order: http://www.derangedrecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=800

"Hailing from the Twin Cities, C-TV is new band featuring some of the folks who brought you The Retainers, W.H. Walker, and Cheap Time, among others. They play dynamic, hook-laden punk rock that is tight and to the point, with raw production that harkens back to the sounds of yesteryear. You can hear a range of influences that can be traced to the KBD bands, Good Vibrations label, assorted Oz punk, the Red Snerts: Sound of Gulcher comp, and an undeniable early Minneapolis sound via Suicide Commandos. Music that is short and sweet with a black eye."

"Terry Katzman approved!"

Finally back with a small handful of things for your consumption.

Helta Skelta ? Reds b/w The Devil's Triangle 7"
Domestic release from Perth's best kept secret Helta Skelta (aside from Prag whom they share a singer). Musically its a mix of Wire demo's, classic Aussie punk (The Victims), and some early 80's hardcore thrown in for good measure (I'm thinkin' Middle Class). They have LP coming out on Deranged hopefully in the near future. 329 copies pressed with Risographed printed covers.

Color TV - Cassette tape
Debut recording of Color TV who hail from Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN. Its folks from the Retainers, Shanghais, Cheap Time, Welcome Home Walker, ect. playing garage punk that bring to mind classics such as Suicide Commandos, Ivy Green, Protex and give it a modern spin. 100 copies pressed with Risographed printed covers.

Some other stuff available:
Voight-Kampff - s/t LP (split w/Deranged)
This has been out for a little bit now but deserves some more circulation (especially in the US). Colin Swanson-White (Davidians, Formaldehyde Junkies, Sinks, Damage Deposit, Any Last Words, ect.) and Joseph Sulier (Life Like, The Breaks) brainchild of dark punk tunes that bring to mind Red Lorry Yellow Lorry with shades of Agnew, Sage, and Marr guitar styling peppered throughout the record. Small handful of copies left.

Lastly, I recently received a box of dead stock from the back catalog that had apparently been sitting in the closet from ill-fated distro. It had a small handful of stuff from the likes of Tenement (including mailorder Green), Autistic Youth, J Church/Off With Their Heads, Loser Life, Gateway District, and more. Most of this stuff will be going up in the coming days for CHEAP, so if you are looking for something grab it here.

"First EP from this Minneapolis powerhouse. With ex-members of HOLDING ON and KILL SADIE, as true hardcore vets, they lay it down on-point. On this record they take the raw power and intensity from bands like BL'AST and later POISON IDEA and rip another face or two. Nicely packaged, complete with obi strip. 300 on purple vinyl. Split release between 1%, Pass Judgement, and Rock Bottom Records."

Review:

Big Takeover
AJ Morocco?s Top Ten ? December 26

"2. Getting Even ? s/t 7? (One Percent, Pass Judgement, Rock Bottom)

Debut EP from this Minneapolis band with ex-members of Kill Sadie, Holding On and The Real Enemy. Built on the spastic wall-of-guitars sound pioneered by later era*Black Flag*, Poison Idea and Swiz, but with it?s own distinct style that is all Twin Cities. Four killer tunes, all with the kind of lyrics that can only be found in the gasoline soaked notebook of singer Jason Aaronen. Really psyched to hear what this band is capable of. EP comes with a free download of the record along with demo tracks and rehearsals."

Hey, giving you the heads up on these releases. 100 green mailorder copies were pressed for the Tenement record if thats your thing. Ebullition, No Idea, Grave Mistake, Interpunk and few others will have copies shortly. I am in the process of getting an online store setup, so keep your eyes peeled for that. If you don't like the temp cover of the Tenement record and want the new one, hit me up and we might be able to work something out. I do not check this board often, so if anyone is interested please email me at RockBottomWrex@hotmail.com for prices, questions, comments, hate mail, ect. Thanks!

RBR012: Tenement "False Teeth" 7"
Hailing from Appleton, WI, Tenement play punk rock similar to the more melodic side of SST spliced with the early sound of the Twin Cities. A beautiful mix of Husker Du?s ferocity, Dinosaur Jr.?s guitar soloing and distortion, and The Replacements youthful energy, Tenement stand out in a modern-era by focusing on great and original songwriting that made these other aforementioned bands so special. This is the anti pop-punk.

RBR002: Off With Their Heads/J Church "Grin and Bear It" 7"
After being out of print for a number of years, here is your chance to finally snag a copy without resorting to Ebay! Only a small number has been repressed, so act fast!

I also have small quantities of these titles for sale/trade:
The Humanoids "Are Born" LP
Complete Waste "S/T" 7"
Loser Life "Life Number 2"
American Cheeseburger/Canadian Rifle 7" (New artwork by Sam McPheeters of Born Against/Vermiform and FEEDING of Iron Lung)
The Humanoids "Year of the Snake" 7"
