i have a couple Donald Miller solo records that are pretty good, though i don't really bust them out very often. 

borbetomagus are a good room clearing band.

i still need to track down their split single w/ the almighty Rancid Hell Spawn.

and I'll give a vote to Sam Cooke - Live at the Harlem Square Club. All of his studio stuff was basically blhe eyed soul to these ears, but this record is gritty as fuck and puts him in a different light.

his stuff w/ the Soul Stirrers is also amazing.
