Cities / Re: Seattle WA. & Portland OR.

Squid & Ink closed and the owners now run the Highline on Broadway.  Highline also books a lot of metal/crust bands.

The Ballard Paseo's rules and is way less crowded than the Fremont one.  Just go there outside the normal lunch hours.

Chuck's Hop Shop on 85th in Greenwood is a great beer store and has something like 30+ beers on tap.  They also have differnet food trucks parked outside everyday.

Robert Calvert - Captain Lockheed.  One of the better Hawkwind-related records out there.
The Loft - Up the Hill.  Early Creation band.  Pretty good version of Richard Hell's "Time."
Walking Seeds - Skull Fuck & Dwarf.
Loop - Arc Lite 12"
Len Bright Combo - Presents...  I could use Combo Time Now.
May Blitz - s/t
Kevin Ayers - Bananamour
Keith Cross & Peter Ross - Bored Civilians download.  T2 guy gets folky.  Some great songs on here.

Was there talk of a Len Bright reissue a bit ago?

Music Shit / Re: Loop Reform

Those recent Godflesh clips w/ Robert were cool and I'd imagine a full Loop reunion would rule.

My wife is a bigger Spacemen 3 fan, but she always claims Loop was a way better live band.

Music Shit / Re: Messthetics compilation-series

I'm damn too lazy to search so i'm asking here.

Related to the Messthetics comp and DIY UK Pop/punk which single of those comp has gotten the reissue treatment and could be easy to track down. I mean there is the obvious one, TVPs, Toys, Scrotum Poles, Tronics, Desperate Bicycles (boot), etc. Any others ?

Beyond the Implode on Siltbreeze.  Not a straight-up reissue, but it still great.

Animals & Men lp too on Mississippi.

Not sure if they are on Messthetics, but those 49 Americans lps were also recently reissued.

Who is doing the Beefheart Live at Frank Freeman's Dance Club '68?  Sundazed?

Baroques - Iowa, a Girl's Name 7".  Anybody know if Gear Fab is still planning on reissuing their lp?  Great single.
Doublehappys - How Much Time Left, Please 12"
Cherubs - Icing.  When did people start caring so much about these dudes?  I'm sorta surprised at the going rate of some of their records.
Ed Hall -Gloryhole.
Dead C vs Rangda -  Cool split.  Rangda are amazing live.

also about to put on the new Green Flames lp, which is some ex-High Rise members.

Music Shit / Re: Great prog

"From the Bottom of My Heart" is an early one.

You can pretty much find all their early records for hella cheap.  They got pretty dodgy as the 70's progressed and the less said about their 80's stuff, the better.

Dunno Andromeda, but I agree with everything in this post.

They were kind of in between post-psych/hard rock & full on prog and featured guitarist John Du Cann (the Attack & Atomic Rooster).

I'm having a hard time thinking of any great US prog bands.  Well, besides Queensryche and Fates Warning!

I always loved this story about John Roderick.

At the Hurricanes' third show, Jonathan Poneman from Sub Pop approached Roderick to talk about signing the band. Weeks of negotiations followed, and the deal fell through. "At one point, when we were getting into a heated discussion about how much he was going to give us to record, I put my feet up on his desk and my hands behind my head," Roderick later said. "I was like, 'Let's talk turkey.' And he was apparently really offended by this."At this point, Poneman apparently became uninterested in putting out any music by the band.

Lard Free, Heldon, Aphrodite's Child, Moody Blues, Andromeda, Quiet Sun, Family, Goblin, and Brainticket were all great.

i also agree w/ bentclouds in that krautrock is pretty much another word for prog.

shit like Marillion also sucks.

RIP.

That first record is a long time favorite of mine.  Dude was a great guitarist.

Music Shit / Re: AM - Black Night Burning (aka school me on AM / Trensmat)
« on: February 27, 2013, 10:41:50 AM »
I like those Astral Social Club, Cave, Ashtray Navigations, Telescopes, and Our Love Will Destroy the World singles on Trensmat a lot.

Milton has done a shit load of releases and plays in a ton of bands.  Those Stumps, Glory Fckn Sun, Sunken, and With Throats As Fine As Needles releases are all cool, though different than that new A.M. record.

He also did a really great split 10" w/ another really underrated dude, Peter Wright.

The Fall - Extricate
John Fahey - Mill Pond double 7"
Main - Hydra EP.  Ex-Loop dudes getting droney.   Really cool.
Chris Knox - Seizure
Roy Montgomery - Winter Songs 10".  Great and one of the songs is Roy messing around with some Clean melody.
Erkin Koray - Elekronik Turkuler - Pharaway did a great job with this reissue
Mudhoney - S/T.  Busted this out after watching the great new Mudhoney documentary.  Still rules.
