True, Kack Klick and Churchmice rool the Steals roost, but that "Pretty Pretty Baby" is a good trippy sub-psych dream-punk 45 too, no? I mean, as far as that genre goes, it's the bees', right?

Used Records For Sale/Auctions/Wantlists / Slash magazine
« on: January 06, 2008, 05:06:55 AM »
Anyone here got far too many old (76-82) UK punk/powerpop singles that they'd wanna trade for a complete collection of Slash magazine? Several hundred $$$-worth, obviously, but...?

??

The one on Scramble, with the b&w 'radio' cover? Is the version of "Yes Or No" on there with or without the handclaps?

Does ThingsDogsDo have a theme song yet?  If he not needs one - maybe listing all of his various ebay personas.  And be sure to include this auction in the lyrics cos he DIDN'T FUCKING WIN IT - some other desperate straight did.

And I want to hear the ThingsDogsDo theme song!  Cos I bet I could write a better one!  And I don't write (music)!

The Busy Signals should do a whole LP of songs about the KBD scene. 200 copies, numbered. Who'd not want one?

I hate Black Flag, ergo I hate rock'n'roll.

"Squeeze", on the other hand, is super-fine.

Have to save the Morning Spunk for another time. Tell you what, those guys weren't half surprised to have me on the phone asking about Morning Spunk, considering their 'proper' track records... (Another good one was when I called the mum of Trevor Bolder - him wot was in the Spiders From Mars - not about Trevor, which is what she would've  expected, but about the record made by Trevor's dad, Harry. I gotta keep these folk on their toes!)

But is there a fake-punk UK single better than "High Rise Love" by Gyppo? My money's on no.

I've just started a '45 Revs blog' here:
http://45revolutions.blogspot.com/

Hopefully I'll be update this very regularly, seeing as I won't have to do any scanning and writing! The first posting is the Great British Heroes single (done before, I know, but...) but there'll be plenty of 'unknown' obscurities down the line too.
Spread the word!

I'd get that "100 Drugs" single every day of the week.

US 76-79 is scheduled to be book 3, but I wouldn't hold my breath! We'll see about this book 2 thing first...

I'd love to see a UK 80-82, but that wouldn't be something for Mario. There's only one person in the world who'd be essential to such a thing, and that's Alex in Greece; unfortunately he's not up for it. Maybe we should start a petition!

Yep, that's right: bands from all over, but only up to 1979. It'll be almost all pictures, with very little text, this time.

Yep, the star ratings can't be any more than a 'guide'. When we were putting the book together we were less concerned with fine-tuning the star-ratings than we were with getting line-ups etc of 'known' records (although Anti-Social got found about a week after we went to print! Ouch!!) and discovering previously-unknown records. Basically, using the book in combination with GEMM/popsike will give the 'best' result of quite how rare something supposedly is. 'Supposedly' being an important word!!

If anyone is being prompted to put together a wants list based on 'new' stuff in the book, gimme a shout. I might have something.

Cheers,
Steve
