The 13 oz rule is for mail that they can't trace back to you, i.e. traditional stamps.  If you print postage with a meter, online (paypal, stamps.com, etc) or from the APC, you can deposit it without dealing with a human.

Any reason why you prefer using APC over Paypal? Despite Paypal's interminable crawl, this seems an obvious winner if it actually works properly.
Also must note that my last two experiences with the PO person were infinitely easier and more pleasant than in the past. Barely anyone in line and person was super nice and quick with my Int'ls.

Lastly, for heavy packages (where I don't need super accuracy) anyone ever used one of those scales where you just hang the box from it? Assuming those are cheap...

Between reading the USPS thread and having the scales at home, my last mass ebay shipment was easy as can be:
Paid for and printed out all shipping and labels from home and paid for the shipping via paypal.

All I had to do at the post office was jam all the mailers into one of the big drop boxes and leave.  Best post office experience ever.

And i just added a couple of ounces to each box.. just in case my eyeballs (and scale) were wrong.  It was fine.

So for anything over 13 oz, I was under the impression that your only two options (unless you have that program thing) were to print postage from the Automatic Postage Center or go to the counter.

Haven't tried the system through Paypal for this reason - thought I'd still have to wait inline if I used that for Anything 13oz or more. No?

Let's all take a moment to savor Vin Mazzaro's line vs. the Indians this evening:

2 1/3 IP  11H 14ER  3BB 2K 22.74ERA

He only gave up one home run. This was a good old take-one-for-the-team outing.

As if that guy's day wasn't bad enough, he got optioned to AAA promptly after the game. It's almost like the manager wanted to try and ruin his own player's career in a single swoop.

Shit, the sweatpants already got mentioned. They made the biggest impact, though the Gone footage is better than I expected.
Is that Ginn talking about getting laid in every state? With those sweats, who could resist?

Why can't this be love?

Has it ever been discussed here just how gay that album cover is? Just why exactly are there strands of jizz emanating from behind the pillar of oiled strength?

Okay, I hadda post this -- Bongwater with Screamin' Jay Hawkins and The Pussywillows on Nightmusic, covering Roky Erickson.  Nuts.

Whoah! Insane, Bob Weir gets in on the jam too?? I'm going to hazard a guess that's the first and last time Weir and April March shared a stage together!

I know you love to bag anything C-86ish but that's absurd. I could easily name 50 Creation releases better than that one and I even like it.

Also, while a kitchen scale is fine for weighing LPs and stuff going media mail, there is a definite benefit to having one with digital readout that tells you ounces clearly and accurately. Weighing something and quoting someone a price and then having it either get returned or overpaying is really annoying.

I just bought a postage scale at Office Depot. It was like $40 something. Really like that it weighs down to <ounce. Don't like that it maxes out at 4 pounds but still it covers all but a couple (forbigger ones I use the automatic postage center at post office which I thank termbo for telling me about).

I printed out first class postage list and media mail lists from USPS site since those ones get used all the time, then just use the USPS site for Int'l first class package weights (it lists by country code and there's a quick key for the code list).

Lots of other very useful info in the USPS whining thread. The shit Coolectorscum posted there about the automatic postage center (and how to print media mail postage without waiting in line) is seriously the most useful thing I've learned from Termbo.

i laughed.

No spot in SF yet. Hoping to sub-let off someone. Any help in that regard would be great. We're looking for October & November, i'll be on tour with La La Vasquez over there for the most of September

Don't worry, there are always sublets that pop up closer to the actual period. Some might be quite a bit of money though. Just check Craigslist periodically and mention it on here a few times a couple months out.
