(100 copies 12” black vinyl / full ‘kraft’ sleeve, 3mm spine, ‘tipped on’ front cover, individual collage & printed track listing on the back, with lyric insert. Self-released)

Release date – 16th October 2020

Gad Whip are mainly from Lincolnshire, England’s second largest county with the big skies. Since 2014 they self-released their first four cassette albums, with subsequent releases coming out on Ever/Never, Arachnidiscs, X-Mist and Fourth Dimension Records.

Fanimal Arms is the follow up to 2018’s Post Internet Blues LP (on X-Mist), reviews of that album accused us of shitting on conventions, having an atmosphere akin to a night drive through zombie ravaged Lincolnshire, with the added bonus of getting a ‘God bless these weirdos” from yellowgreenred.

The new LP contains more bittersweet tales of going the wrong way down the one-way of life, looking at the world from a rest home for retired horses, ancient river crossings and abandoned museums.

‘Ward 24’, still bound to vocalist Pete Davies’ semi-spoken psycho-rambled narrative, has a distinctly melodic lilt to its serpentine yet curdled minimal rock underpinning, whilst ‘Trademark’ is pure ’n’ catchy garage-punk bluster instantly proving these boys don’t want anybody to get too cosy before whatever it is next they’re cooking up. This one mainlines straight to the late night dancefloor of a seedy basement club already cracking with the strain of music not especially designed to be danced to.

The nods towards subtle experimentation of their longer works may well have been lifted, or abandoned altogether, but Gad Whip know exactly how to utilise the single format to the best of its potential.

Hey all,

we have a new tape out on Friday 8th December - its on Toronto based Arachnidiscs and is up for pre-order now.

For this release the usual Gad Whip suspects were aided and abetted by Jimbo Baxter, Ryan Walker, Eva Davies, Neil Campbell (Vibracathedral Orchestra, Astral Social Club etc) and Paul Walsh (Smell & Quim, Foldhead etc). Recorded in several kitchens throughout the summer of 2017 in West Yorkshire, UK with one mic and a busking amp. We'll have limited copies up on our bandcamp soon.
