99 percent is the disenfranchised population, not just homeless. This includes those with jobs they go to every day, people with higher education, blah, blah, until 1 percent.
Motives? Well, everyone needs food so I would assume that is some sort of human motive. I bet we agree there. Fundamentally though, a movement requires a little bit more than a good lunch. So, what other needs do we need for a movement? Shared ideals. That's one. Thus, we have a requisite of participation. To answer your question simply, a protestor is one of his/her own free will and volition supporting a cause, i.e. not as directed by a local police force that can shoot down planes...and show you where to get FREE FOOD!
This has been great, but solidifying a so far non-descript movement into binary arguments of hypocrite or honest doesn't taste as good as fresh pasta.
