I dated my ex for five years. We were supposed to get married, blah, blah, blah. The last two years or so of the relationship, he moved to Athens, GA to build and open up a restaurant. I still ived in Atlanta, because that's where I worked, but drove up and lived with him on the weekends. While he was building the restaurant, he couldn't do much of anything else for work to make money, so I supported him the whole time. We were both big record collectors and I would buy us every record we wanted the whole time we were dating plus pay for any vacation (plane tickets, hotel rooms), etc... We also collected vintage monster/horror toys and other things and I would pay for those too. All this thinking one day we were going to be married and he said after the restaurant was opened, he would start paying for everything we wanted and buy us a house, so I didn't think twice about supporting him during this time period. Needless to say, we broke up and he kept everything that I paid for. From time to time, he gives me stuff back, but not much to amount to anything. He owes me about $10,000 from supporting him and buying all of this stuff. Pisses me off, because there are so many amazing records that I lost and yes, I did re-buy a lot of them. He recently gave me a bunch of the toys back, but I could really care less about those. I want the records or some money. I am in debt up the wazoo because of him and now his restaurant and bar are doing great business, so I know he can afford to pay me something. He just recently had a baby though, so I know that that will never happen!
On to the new guy now, luckily Dave is into the same music as me, but doesn't collect records, so I don't have to worry about that!
