To reiterate, I don't want replay on scoring decisions or on something like that off sides call. I hate replay during game action. What I DO want is to review red cards, after the game is over, to see if a call that would result in suspension for another game is warranted. A strategic flop should not remove the key player from the chess board.

As far as game play goes, I understand off sides better now that I've actually thought about it a bit, so I challenge you pros to come up with some changes to the game that would create more scoring and more definitive results. No one actually likes those 0-0 scores, do they??? I mean, you accept them, like death and taxes but why add another deflating event to life?

You said it. It's live chess, man. It's warfare. The favorite sport of generals the world over. 0-0 is stalemate. It's the end of Vietnam. It's difficult, everyone is disappointed and/or disgusted. That's it. Curse, spit and look forward.

I also support the use of the vuvuzela.

Why not allow goal tending in basketball?
The offside rule is pivotal to the creativity of the game, and to how the defense is managed. It allows for pushing forward because you don't have to worry about some shit by the posts. A Maicon couldn't make those incredible runs down the line. He'd be stationary. If there's no offside, you're probably looking at a highly defensive game with a few goals that would be due purely to the mistakes of the defense and would have little to do with skill. A 7-1-2 is the standard system, and you're immensely bored.

I can't recall hearing anything today, but there has been an apologetic nature to some of what English commentators have said in other matches. That could be equally directed toward Kiwis though. the All Whites are New Zealand football. There's little else. Tpday's draw was massive.

Jesus. It's the group stage. Spain just went down to Switzerland the other night. France will probably go out before the knockout begins. They were finalists in 06, remember? Everyone "sucks" at this point. The US hasn't lost yet, and came back from 2nil down to 3-2 in the second half. That's not been done before.
Their system is lousy, sure, but at this point in the tournament they're performing much better than I had expected.
