Negative Insight is a magazine and website covering late '70s-early '90s hardcore, punk, UK82, post punk, anarcho, crust, goth and related styles.

We have recently expanded to a full website with lots of comprehensive features being posted regularly. We focus on topics that we as fans care about and often try to uncover stories you don't know about bands you do.

Recent features we have run include an interview with Penny Rimbaud from Crass on the Captain Sensible (Damned guitarist) EP on Crass Records, a New Model Army interview focused on their early years, an interview with Frenchy Gloder of Flicknife Records about releasing the record that saw Lemmy reunite with Hawkwind in 1984, No Future Records, and more. We have many more planned.

Full description:

Negative Insight #3 w/ Skitslickers "GBG 1982" 7" EP

Third installment of Negative Insight for the dedicated follower of fashion. Entitled GBG Hardcore, this 56 page issue features interviews with the Shitlickers, Anti-Cimex, Disarm, and Absurd, a photo feature of long time GBG photographer Sebastian Todor, a comprehensive diary of the Anti-Cimex/Agoni 1986 Chainsaw Tour, and additional content pertaining to the 1981-1986 Gothenburg, Sweden hardcore scene. It includes previously unpublished photos as well as a large fold out Shitlickers poster. The entire issue is laid out in the 1980s aesthetic, using the same body font as early issues of MRR and Metal Forces and is professionally printed as a full sized magazine.

The issue comes packaged with a fully authorized official repress of the Shitlickers "GBG 1982" 7", pressed using the exact same plates as the original 1982 pressing. We have taken great care to maintain the integrity of the original release and ensure that this repress sounds every bit as loud, powerful, and violent as the initial run.

Music Shit / New post punk/Dark or Coldwave/Goth/etc
« on: September 09, 2009, 07:43:19 PM »
looking for new shit in this vein that's good and coming from an underground angle. Not looking for info on goth bands like The Vanishing or anything silly.

More along the lines of anything that's GOOD and falls somewhere in between bands like Blank Dogs, Digital Leather, The Prids, Spectres, or shit like that.

Anything with a Siouxsie, Joy Division, Southern Death Cult, or generally somewhat dark undercurrent in the music.

Anxiety - "Pathetic" 12" EP
Debut EP containing nine songs which, to me, sound like late '80s British HC. I'd say Electro Hippies, Atavistic, that Terrorain demo 7" a bit or Death Sentence from Australia. Lots of echo on the vocals with really negative and pessimistic lyrics and an appropriately raw recording. Song titles such as "Stop Breeding," "Neutral Scum," and "Fat Fucks With Money" show a sincere disdain for the human race. If you're into late '80s UKHC, check this out.

Sgt. Slaughter - "They Call Me Guitar Dickmouth" 7" now out. Five tracks of early '80s sounding hardcore along the lines of Jerry's Kids. All analog recorded. 400 copies pressed. NOT some retro band that sounds nothing like the sound they are going for like all your lame Y2K thrashers. This shit is actually good.

Up next is the "Bands That Don't Give A Shit About Being God" comp 7" of Massachusetts HC bands. This is at the plant currently. The Boston side contains unreleased new tracks by Social Circkle, Witches With Dicks, and the Conversions. The Lowell side contains tracks by Out Cold, Violent Nuns, and Sgt. Slaughter.

after that will be a new Out Cold 7". Expect this to be sent off to the pressing plant in late November and out in late December/early January.

Sgt. Slaughter 7"s are $5 ppd in the US ($5.50 paypal to NIMP13@aol.com) or $7 ppd. world. snail mail address is:
