Also, just picked up the first single on Matador and though I really like it the signature Reatard meanness/nastiness/venom is pretty nonexistent on the 2 songs on the record. I mean the songs come off as very nice in mood and feeling. I was just wondering if the songwriting on the record was consciously written like that to appeal to the masses or if these songs just came out like that...
i hear more of a progression in his playing abilities... songs are going from quick 1 or 2 min simple punk tunes to full out well written, somewhat complex, layered to all bloody hell pop songs. i would think this is more along the lines of not trying to appeal to the masses but more natural progression of a song writers musical ability. The songs are still just as viscious, they're just well written now!
i still think it's totally cool that someone can record at home and have it released by a "major"!!
