The pyramids put on a good show - I have seen them a few times in Seattle.  They have a couple of 7"s in the works, which I am looking forward to hearing.

Evening Meetings?  God, there's another one?  I thought I had found the whole family tree on MySpace.  Who's in Evening Meetings?

Erin is in it with Matt from Factums/Pyramids and Craig from ???.

It's the least formal band of the four, I think, but there's some killer moments on it.

It's probably Craig from the Lights/Pyramids.  Although, I haven't heard their stuff before.  By the way, I have been guest dj'ing on KEXP sonic reducer - every second saturday of the month.  This past Saturday I was on with my pal mr. west from 10:30-11:45.

Music Shit / Re: What is everybody listening to? Part II

Left work early today and drove down to Olympia to hit a couple record stores.  Listened to the Nothing People CD-R that Jared sent me a while back - listened to it about 4 or 5 times, it is excellent.  I really enjoyed their last two 7" records, but this cd kills all the way through.

Picked up Sun City Girls 'God is my solar system/superpower' double lp & 'carl the barber' 7" - my first in depth listen to the SCG.  A little challenging to these ears on some parts, but definitely worth spending more time with.  The cover and artwork are particularly pleasing.

Kraftwerk - 'somewhere in europe' I hate live albums, but for some reason the french radio announcer on side 2 doesn't bother me at all.

Sister Nancy 'one two' she always sounds good to me...would love to see her live...or maybe I am just romanticizing a Jamaican dance hall.

Also recently listened to the homostupids 'intern' lp, blank dogs 'diana the herald', nodzzz 7", krunchies lp and 7", limp wrist 7"...all of which were fun, but I don't want to bring them home to mom and dad.

anyone know where the morricone song "guerra e pace, pollo e brace" comes from.  a friend put it on a mixtape he gave me years ago.  i would love to find the soundtrack this came from.

i have a funny feeling that if i look hard enough, I can find most of these records for the shipping cost alone.  good luck paying your rent.

Jared - check out the Walls S/T LP on Pain Killer Records.  They are a Seattle band that is putting out some pretty disgusting sludge...

"Pillow Talk" with Rock Hudson and Doris Day...a pretty ridiculous rom/com, but the opening song is fantastic...but i'm a sucker for hand claps.

Music Shit / Re: bands that put the same songs on different releases...
« on: December 18, 2007, 11:27:56 AM »
i think you have to place some blame on the bands that are willing to release the exact same song multiple times...within the same year.  it would be one thing if it was a different version, or the first time on vinyl vs. cd, but these releases just seem lazy to me.  also, they can't even find 250 people in italy (or at least europe) to buy this stuff, seems like they might be smarter than those willing to pay premium prices for obscure export 7" records.

cabrera's a beast - he adds instantly to the middle of any line up - willis might end up not living up to his potential...2005 was incredible, but he has done very little since then.  i'm just glad neither player ended up in the AL west to compete against my middling mariners.  it will be interesting to see if this trade prompts some other movement, i'm still crossing my fingers for santana (wishful thinking!)

i don't think any doctor would perform that extreme level of plastic surgery on Kenny Rogers if the dude had aids...sure they have pretty good medication for the folks that can afford it.  And yeah, Kenny is a gambler - but c'mon...it's still AIDS not the HIV.
