a little bird told me that Tyvek might be playing on the Seattle show...who knows?
Stoked regardless...

Should be a great show. Hopefully that seizure inducing poster will not be there.

Music Shit / Tube Alloy

Does anyone have information on the band Tube Alloy who put out a self-released LP in 2002? It has some killer minimal synth tracks on it, a tribute to the country teasers, and a decent Gary Numan cover. Dr. Kernkrach asked me about finding copies of the record a while back, but I couldn't get any leads. Then a few months ago Tom from Dirty Knobby ran by a sealed copy of the record in the used bins here in Seattle. Awesome record.

I'm leaning towards agreeing with you. Though there sure is a mean streak in their lyrics that may represent some true feelings of misogyny or racism - at the very least a whole lot of people don't get the joke, and perhaps that's the point. Just saying that lots of bands I enjoy are toying with these ideas in their lyrics and if they are in another language, I would never know about it.

as long as the shit sounds good, the message is not important? well then, if you see it that way, be careful that you don't run into some fascist, racist or sexist assholes, playing "good shit", and releasing a record with them...

I enjoy records by the Brainbombs, Country Teasers and countless other fascist/racist/sexist assholes.

For every person that still buys records after downloading them, I would guess there are several others who say they are too broke to spend money on records they really enjoy. Or several others who would never even think of purchasing the music.

Blown to outer space recording of Tyvek?s 2nd gig ever! Amazing raw punk, some jams you know, and some rarely heard ones, like ?Duck Blinds? and a Mekons cover. Recorded January ?05. Edition of 200, with full-color fold out art. C26, EXBX-076

Blown to outer space is probably code for sounds like shit.

Music Shit / Re: Favorite records so far this year

I finally listened to this cassette....

Warm Climate Edible Houses (Stunned)

Maybe only Mr. Jeremy knows what I'm talking about, but.....I've had a few fave cassettes of the last few years during this cassette label zeitgeist which is overtaking my shelves, but this one in particular strikes me immediately as the one cassette release that is most worthy of preservation on a more enduring format such as vinyl. Incredible mastery of many moods and styles that would be uncommon for any band...let alone just one guy in Los Angeles. Fans of Bowie, Comus, NWW, Legendary Pink Dots, and Syd Barrett would find something to like here. And if you like 'em all, you probably have never heard these elements all so seamlessly combined in such a compelling way.

Definitely in my top ten of the year!

Music Shit / Re: The Units-Digital Stimulation
« on: September 03, 2009, 04:22:16 PM »
They put out a couple of earlier 7"s. 'Warm Moving Bodies b/w iNight' and 'high pressure days'. The singles are better than the full length and their music gets worse after Digital Stimulation. I believe they were a bay area group. If I remember they were covered in the first issue of Z-gun.
