This is the most blatant cash grab I've ever seen. Do they know their fan base? Johnny Depp can only buy so many tickets.

Pretty sure they do know their fan base.  Have you lived in cave your whole life?  If you didn't see this coming I honestly don't know what is wrong with you.  Richie this is worse than any ghetto category that exists.  Can you just delete the thread?

Deadly Snakes : Been Listening to Ode to Joy and Porcella again since I got the book about the band in the mail. Such a dynamic and amazing band. Definitely got better as they went along. The sum of the parts made them, because I never really liked any of the solo stuff by Eithier and never heard from Max Danger again. Oh well, these are enough. Epic cover of Big Bird on an ITR single is essential too. Anyone holding an extra or unwanted  vinyl copy of "Love Undone" hit me up. Please.

David Nance still. Like what I want a new Crazy Horse album to sound like. Last song on the album is kind of disposable, but the rest still gets me.

Cowboy album: I rarely like stuff that could be described as "muscular," but that is about the best adjective for this. real solid Punk Rock. A winner.

Just got the new Stefan Christensen album and can't wait to dig in. Executive produced by the Professor!

I'm reading that Snakes book now too. Pretty good, surprisingly. Just put on 'Porcella' for the first time in a few years myself. I never fully appreciated them when I had the chance, which I kinda regret now. At least I got to see them a few times. The authors Spaceshits beef was a humorous anecdote as well - now theres a band I'd love to read the book on...

That Nance LP is really great. Wish I could  see it live. Speaking of which, Simon Joyner is playing here next week, anyone ever seen him?

Cowboy songs really stick in my head. Especially some of the phrases. Mister I have always been here.

The new Stefan LP is sick, I thought that last 7" might have been the best thing he's done yet, and this LP pushes even further.

CITY YELPS LP is still sooooooooooooo good. Shaun, thank you wherever you are out there.
Can someone direct me to this Deadly Snakes book?  Max Danger AKA Age of Danger may be done with music, but still continues to be active in film.  Andre Eithier records are good to great in an adult rock stylee.

Peter Perrett - How The West Was Won.

Makes no sense.

Listening to the title track for the first time: the lyrics are kinda cringeworthy but I'm still a sucker for his voice.

Yeah, that Kardashian line is brutal.

Whole album is great though - songs/instrumentation/arrangement/production.

I'd heard others say so but it just seemed so unlikely to be true.

Yeah, I almost turned it off when I heard that line. Glad I stuck with it though as the record really is very good.  Anyone who ever had an interest in the Only Ones beyond "Another Girl..." should find this record rewarding.

Might be stating the obvious, but this was a 3xCD set.

Guess I'm over estimating the cost. It just doesn't seem worth it. But I was born in 82, I have no real conception of how popular any of these bands really were.

Pretty sure Frazetta was alive at the time of those.  I would guess that the books had a slightly larger reach initially than either of those records, but over time the records might have more staying power?  Perhaps because books often have multiple covers?  Either way, all of it was working in the margins.

Oh and another thing, if you guys really wanna be all uppity and shit go throw away your copies of blood visions because guess what? the fucking guy in this band took the god damn cover photo. it's tainted now right?

I sold that record within a week of buying it, but this is juvenile, vulgar reductionist horseshit. Answer Me isn't good art anyway, and the fact that you think it is has less to do with your being more open-minded and more with your being the target market (ie lowest-hanging fruit) for witless, obvious shock value tantrums on paper. All the real eye-opening, thought-provoking art and writing in the world, and you found time to read that insignificant '90s debris three times? Not much more I need to know.

You wanna know what I was reading at the same time as Answer Me! Sartre's Being and Nothingess and After Auschwitz by Rich L Rubenstein. So your argument for me being "lowest hanging fruit" or only being enticed by the "shock value"(I did not find it shocking at all) is pretty fucking invalid. I wouldn't have read that zine if I did not find it interesting as a cultural artifact.

Shit is getting really stupid here.  What a bummer.

Whats the matter? The guy asked about a musically well-regarded demo from the 80s, which he is correct in saying shows no hint of racism- just lots of songs about bombs and death. Discharge stuff.

I told him the guys from that band are now Nazis. If I didn't go to the Gore reunion gig I never would have known either.

He still likes it, which is... whatever... I'd prefer it if he was disgusted, but I can see where he is coming from with the early vs. Nazi Skrewdriver thing. This doesn't come remotely close to the racist, sexist, and Islamophobic comments made here as of late.
What's the matter?  Well you almost answered it and then copped out.  To quote noted philosopher Kevin Seconds:  "Racism Sucks!"  If you can look at those photos of those dudes and still want to have anything to do with anything they were ever involved with then you are not someone who's opinion's I would want to know about.  The Skrewdriver comparison is about as tired as listening to any era Skrewdriver.  Like I said, shit here is stupid lately.

Gore - Stem the bloodbath. Been playing this demo alot the last couple of days. Cant seem to find much info on them. other than that they were from Detroit and this was recorded in 86 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WGolgGOwKE&t=23s

Gore was indeed from Detroit... an excellent band, but I got BAD news. They are totally racist, seig heil, NAZI Nazis or at least like 1/2 or 3/4 of them. They are currently in the panzerfaust band Rebel Hell. They also played in Kreigs Legion, Liberty 37, The Rogues... Detroit in the late 80s/early 90s had a lot of dodgy shit full-on racist bands chumming around with punks like ALD and SBLC who somehow played gigs with Son of Sam... I think.

This is Rebel Hell- all four dudes played as Gore at a reunion gig about 12 years ago. They played with Heresy (Detroit) and Social Outcast which was weird. Did Forced Anger play too?  I don't remember, but that would be super weird.  Maybe that was a different gig.

Anyway,  I recognized 2 of the dudes from the original Gore that played in Flint in 1987 or so. I didn't realize the were racist until afterwards when I talked to Colonel Slanders (singer dude in middle) and he tried to turn me on to Rebel Hell. Awkward as hell for a lot of reasons.

Thanks for the info! Sucks they're racists. I think i read something about that too somewhere on the internet, but could'nt seem to find the source to confirm it. That late 80s/early 90s scene sounds like a weird time. However i still think this demo rules and the "song topics" doesnt seem to be racist/facist/right wing or whatever, just general disgust for mankind and its deeds. Could one might say its like a midwest HC equivalent to Skrewdriver?
Of the many, many idiotic things posted on this board of late this is near the top of the list.  Shit is just stupid here lately.

The Am Rep Killdozer 7" also has Tom Hazlemyer on guitar.

Surgery - Great band.

Funny Cows story.  I was in the room when a scumbag Pittsburgh promoter tried to not pay them because the "Violated their contract."  When Thor asked how they had done that the promoter said:  "by sucking."
Killdozer was essentially a funny punk band, except they played something else- Funny pig fuck? All the Hazelmyer riffing in the world couldn't save those dullards. Slaughterhouse Rd. on the other hand were decent.

Surgery ripped me off when I was in high school. Sent them $6 for the ep, and it never arrived. Circle Jerks stole $14 of my paper route money. Greg Hetson endorsed the check my mommy wrote for me. Now he is a millionaire.

Cows cowboy hat, mustache, trumpet, dirty needle schtick had nothing on Mike Hard's insane sexy televangelist schtick. Mike Hard would actually touch you with his meaty paws or if you were a full-bosomed lass with the crown of his head. Don't sleep on the Mike Hard Band- five piece with Kodrick from Hand Over Head Thrall and Brainsaw is a powerhouse.

Anybody ever see Th3y N3v3r Sl33p?

Killdozer - great band and Bill Hobson was a great guitar player.  I saw almost all of these bands live multiple times and few of them came close to Killdozer.  It is interesting that, as great as Hazelmyer's playing is it isn't as in tune with the overall Killdozer aesthetic.

Did you send $$ to Surgery or Circuit records?  Circuit ripped everyone off so at least you're not alone there.

We are, however, in full agreement about The God Bullies being the superior live band.  Not even close.  Now everyone should go watch that Mosquito movie with Mike Hard and Ron Asheton

A few general Am Rep things.

The Am Rep Killdozer 7" also has Tom Hazlemyer on guitar.

The Gaunt record is essential.  The A&R rep that signed Gaunt to Warner Brothers was from Minneapolis.

Surgery - Great band.

Chapter now has a US distro deal so I am pretty sure you'd be able to buy this at any store that carries standard indie records.
