Social Justice Warrior!

*Rock Band Edition*

Not sure why I found that a bit revolting for a minute.  But if you write dumb shit then I just might point it out.  And if you use social media to promote the dumb shit that you wrote and then don't respond then I will keep pointing it out.

Good lord...just to highlight the idiocy:

You might also question how Kate Biggars, in a fairer world, a perennial contender for top-ten placement on ?Women Who Rock? lists, feels about these easy-come-easy-go bandmates, all younger and more overtly decorative, none able to manipulate even a single effects pedal, let alone the set that Biggars works, two-footed, while thrashing her whole body in thrall to the song. It?s a feminist conundrum, certainly, that one of the bands that has showcased a genuine female threat for the longest also pads its roster with eye candy, but there it is, our imperfect world again.

As a Major Stars and TV fan in general, I don't think I have thought for one second about their relative attractiveness as I click through live videos, searching for one with good sound...Are the seven other people who still care about Twisted Village that shallow?? More than pitting them against each other, he's accusing Rogers of pandering and public humiliation of his SO...

He is a She, not that matters that much as idiocy is gender neutral.  Also, I happen to know for a fact that every Major Stars singer is a fucking effects pedal virtuoso.

oh duh, just spaced on that but it kinda makes it worse...and looking now, voila!, it's gone...

I let her know how fucked up I thought it was and I think some other folks did as well.

In which Dusted writer Jennifer Kelly tries to pit the various female members of Major Stars against each other for some reason.  Feminist conundrum indeed.

Non-Music Shit / Re: Official Wrestling Thread
« on: October 31, 2016, 08:15:15 AM »
The TNA thing is really interesting to watch unfold. I'm still so confused as to what Billy Corgan is trying to retain with purchasing TNA. From what I gather POP TV is paying them for part of their commercial revenue and they are on a hard to find channel with low ad rates. They have the outside of US distrobution but those companies seem to be not so happy with the arrangements. With the money / connections you think he would just start a new company and try to strike out on his own. There are some talents on the roster and the tape catalog has some value but getting into business with Dixie Carter just seems like poison for what end?

That being said, Global Force has gotten no TV (and most likely never will), barely anyone gets Lucha Underground etc. I think at this point unless someone gets a deal (whether its a new company or existing) with Netflix, Amazon Prime or Hulu the wrestling landscape on TV is going to be more bleak within the next year.

Its a weird deal for sure. I think he believes he can "save" TNA and they already at least have some of the building blocks in place instead of starting fresh (which he already did try somewhat with Resistance Pro, with a supposed TV deal with AMC at some point) and if he takes over as majority owner he can "rebrand" the company in some way (and even Russo is right, they need to lose the TNA name). If Corgan gets paid off without getting ownership and Dixie is still in place the rumor is some of the talent walks after being lied to outright by Dixie. They should just blow the whole fucking thing up and let the Hardys start their own backyard promotion at the Hardy compound.

But really, you have to think 100% of this situation is due to Dixie Carter being the terrible human being most people say she is...it's hard to believe I'm actually rooting for Billy Corgan to win something.

Its a shame GFW has done NOTHING so far, but Jeff Jarrett has to be laughing his ass off about all this TNA shit right now....

Surely you can just hope for mutual destruction for both parties.

It's a good rec, and a great one for reading or staring at a wall.

Today I've been listening to Dress Up as Natives. Someone posted an unreleased track on YouTube & a comment left there indicates that Mind Cure has some tapes -- hope they release 'em.

Not an impossibility, but when it was last discussed there seemed to be band members who had different ideas and/or outsized expectations.

whaaaaaaat??   seriously???   touch & go?  i want one.

Yes, T&G. (now distributed by Secretly Distribution)  There is also a non-LP 7".

I think the real issue here is that the majority of your posts here have been to hawk whatever you've been selling.  Granted you've posted about some records that people here seem interested in so this isn't some Chrome Peeler Records shit, but you've contributed very little to the other parts of whatever the Termbo board is these days.

I am confused, will the proceeds from the sale of this record go to fund future releases on Chrome Peel Records?

Music Shit / Re: Picture Discs

I have the VHS copy of Big Black's "Pigpile" with the flexi of them doing a cover of "In My House" on it. I think I have listened to it once in my life.

Not a flexi.  A clear vinyl 5" record.

Do 5" records get their own thread or just lumped in here?

I dunno, I'm pretty fond of this ridiculous thing, mainly because it's the only release Nutra Speaks appears on.

Yeah, but it would be 100% better as an actual record with that as the cover.

Also:  Cold Cave will release a new picture disc 7″ titled ?The Idea of Love? on September 9 via Heartworm.

Saw these when they aired.  It is a shame there were not more.

Poison Idea- Feel the Darkness
The Stabs- Dead Wood
Laughing Hyenas- You Can't Pray a Lie
Dwarves- Toolin' for a Warm Teabag

Had a bad morning, but catharsis is nearly complete.

As an old timer from MI I never understood Laughing Hyenas love. I saw them twice. People weren't into them. Boring... plodding. No songs. Seriously, if it weren't for Brannon and the T & G pedigree they'd be just another AA noise rock also ran somewhere between Mule and Wig. Seriously, Mol Triffid were WAY better.

Ha!  Saw the Laughing Hyenas so many times and there was time when I considered them the best live band going.  I bet I could still make a pretty good case for that being fact.  The line up of Brannon, Larissa, Kevin and Jim Kimball were so good that it took YEARS (and a different rhythm section) for the drugs to catch up to them.

Purling Hiss - I don't hear the songs so I'm not sure how they would be more interesting than Dino Jr.
