Music Shit / Re: the current state of 2009 hipster hardcore
« on: March 26, 2009, 06:35:57 AM »
So, you guys go ahead and give me a definition, because I see this label being given to all kinds of different people, and I think that "Hipster Hardcore" is possibly a thousand times more idiotic than "Hipster Noise".

def of hipst: someone who's looking for cultural "material" that he can use to join a conversation about current stuff because he thinks it has some lame superficial pseudo-symbolic implications. and he has a bad memory. and no emotions whatsoever.

it's applied to all kindsa people cuz' as you see there's no substance to it. they're those subjects of trend that think they're reflective and critical of circumstances but are totally surrendering to satans cock.

nuk-nuk.

that's it.

i am asking myself if i would let myself be the object of a termbro gay-bukake session where i would have to marry the most ugly asshole of your bunch just to live in a country where sex/vid is "overhyped"...

i guess no, because of all the paranoia nobody will remember sex/vid in 3 years.

^Yeah, Crumer's excellent.  Wish he'd put out some vinyl.

the record should get some pseudo 'hype' so that people start considering. i mean every review i read called him "better than prurient". stupid but hype-y. good for a start. let's hope

melchiorhunchesetc.... that stuff is great, you mentioned all of it. it's like consensus rock in a good way and why shouldn't it be?

thought rtfo on lp is really good.

fnu ronnies is awesome, el jesus lp totally rules with the dysfunctional sound experiments and all that ooh.

the not-really-termbo-things i liked so far: jason crumer's walk with me absolutely destroys! also i'm a sucker for james ferraros stuff. the cdrs were really good (as always). oh yeah, and wormsbloods mastery of creation is also a plus for 09.

Music Shit / Re: The first time you ever heard BLACK FLAG

it was a time when i started to read myself through rock history to check out the gems (i was 16). well, it was not always gems but also canonized shit but i was just sick of the music my friends and everybody else besides some older dudes with krautrock-pasts (i'm from germany) were listening to. so i had my literary authorities. in this case it was the story of buzzo givin' lil kurt the tape that starts with damaged II. i immediately bought the album and had one of the best experiences you can have with rock 'n' roll. i didn't know what the fuck to make of it. didn't get it. it was like hearing trout mask replica or b-side white light/white heat or your free jazz pick for the first time. i was not sure why they did that or if i'd liked what they did. but i knew it was very special. after gettin' more into what some would call avant-garde stuff and being able to swallow the male/violence-thing (woe, that sounds gay!) i understood it. it blows my mind to this day.

i like the dudes that do labels 'cause they got that entrepreneurish aura. dilloway (hanson), sick llama (heath of fag tapes), olson (amtapes), hive mind (chondritic).... prurient of course. my weakest spot is the skaters related stuff (new age tapes). i happen to love EVERYTHING by 'em although i see why some might find their stuff ultra redundant, silly or whatever.

Music Shit / Re: Best Bob Dylan LP

blanchette's performance of "real bobby" with all the anecdotes in place and exaggerated was in a way not working for me. it was like too catering to a rock history thing. that got on my nerves (probably cause i once dabbled superficially in sum dylanology). liked richard gere's part though. uh yeah, and calling that one character (the self and poetry/writing reflecting one) arthur rimbaud was just badbadbadbad and pretentious.

Non-Music Shit / Re: Berlin

Quote
I keep reading that Berlin is the cheapest large city in Western Europe. They're saying it's a fraction of the cost of Paris, London, Rome, Amsterdam, etc. What's up with that?

Dunno about Amst but it's right. The rents are ridiculously low an der Spree. That's probably the main point. I mean, even if you compare it to less large and totally sucky german cities like cologne (where i live which sucks too) it's super cheap.

Negative point about berlin: the people like it a little tooo much. they just hype it (including themselves, of course) to death. plus i always have the feeling that they have problems REALLY starting something that's relevant... whatever that means. it always lasts a second and nothings accomplished. i don't really know interesting stuff coming out of berlin that holds up. but again: i don't live there.
