No Cure claimants 'cause the last halfway decent disc is Head on the Door, which they were touring in late 1984 when I saw 'em (first show!) and came out in 1985.
i thought i saw that tour in 86? did they tour that long that record?

MDC-S/T!
and by the way, metal sucks it.
and by the way, that album is from 1982.
I know, but i realized the thread was for '85 and up after i posted it and went with it, as it kicks ass anyway.

also, 1989s Tranzophobia by Mega City 4. A breath of fresh air back then along with the first Doughboys album

Whenever you need somebody-Rick Astley

Added bonus:
Under the tutelage of production trio Stock Aitken Waterman, Astley was taught about the recording process and groomed for his future career, supposedly starting off as the recording studio 'tea boy'. During much of his career prior to the proliferation of music videos, many listeners assumed he was black. In one instance, the comedic entertainer, Sinbad, discussed him with a talk-show host, expressing his surprise that Astley was not "one of the brothers." Even after his visual appearance, it was still popular belief that he was miming for a black American singer.[2] His brother Mike Astley helped to refute this assertion.

that is no surprise as she always seemed really unpleasant and exudes some sort of sense of entitlement that usually is more apt for a band that did more than one mediocre album. but,  to be fair, i never met her.

how about social unrest's rat in a maze?

Why are you guys so anti-Avengers? Maybe it's because I bought Avengers shit and loved it as a teenager and never grew up, but some of those songs are classics to me. There's a lot of garbage in there, but they had more great songs than 99% of the bands you find on a KBD record.
I always wanted to like the Avengers and don't really dislike them, but they are definitely middle of the pack. I listened to that album for years and then one day the honeymoon was over, the songs just didn't do it anymore.

Lighter fluid. no joke. it works really well on book price tags etc. and dries clear without warping. try a bit on rag or something to test it out amd it should work.and give it a whirl.

is there any contemporary jazz that's any good?

yes! these all came out last year.

Family Pet ? 'Ideas are the Enemy' 7? (Foreign Frequency): Free jazz duo from the sticks of Maine make a one-sided sax & vocal blast. AM Haines has a mouth that will rival any Brotzmann disciple.

Gary Hassay/Dan Dechellis/Tatsuya Nakatani ? s/t LP (Foreign Frequency): Never heard of Hassay before this but, man, can that fucker blow a horn. Intense free jazz trio here on a pretty great, young label.

Talibam! ? 'The Excusable Eathling' LP (Pendu Sound): Another one that came out of nowhere, at least for me. Upon first listen, I thought these guys were a dozen or so, but, nope, just three dudes making a hell of a lot of sound. A zillion slivers of noise assembled in free jazz context makes for great listening.

Klangmutationen - 'Weibe Messe' LP (Holy Mountain): Soul scrapping free jazz from Malaysian Ayler-ites. Pure pain lives here.

Shepherds ? 'Bush Babies' 7? (DNT): Here are two more guys from NYC using loops and drums and other shit to create the sound of the late 70s free jazz loft scene. Stunning.

The Zs cd is also good. Walter Weasel. There is plenty....

godamn know it all
