What are you "in for"?
Looking for primitive-thuddd OI!. Filled with hate - no pop sensibility. Don't give a fuck about politics. Foreign vocals - even better. Anything current going on...or at least within the last couple of years?! Somebody chime in. I'm on a kick. Not sure if i have ever mentioned thi here but it might fit the bill-
Just moved and the inlaws packed my favorite Belgian ale glasses away in some mysterious box, along with a coupla my best fancy beers. Sigh... While I work to solve this mystery, I've kept on drinking.
Some goodies of late:
De Struise Pannepot Old Fisherman's Ale - been after this one for years and found it while on a work trip last week. Superb dark ale, of a piece with Trappistes Rochefort 8.
AleSmith IPA - also snagged on a work trip, not so rare but it's not distributed in the North Bay. Always a fave, on the malty side of the IPA spectrum but none the worse for it.
Pretty Things Baby Tree Quadruple.
Up next:
Unibroue Trader Joe's 2011 Reserve or whatever the helll it's called. I still have a 2010 in my lost box, too.
Deschutes Abyss 2010 and 2011.
Brasserie des Rocs Tripel Imperiale.
I just got a copy of The Lady in the Car with the Glasses and a Gun at Kayo Books and am going to start it soon.
Always on a big Ross MacDonald kick. Lastname have you read Black Money or The Galton Case? My favorites.
Another P.G. Wodehouse bender: Mulliner Nights and Mike and Psmith. About half the latter revolves around a complex multi-chapter joke/climax that had me laughing aloud for a good 20 minutes as I read through it. Are other Psmith stories as good?
Mulliner Nights includes a story about, of all things, people dosed with an elephant medicine called Buck-U-Uppo, with strong MDMA-like effects. Not prime Wodehouse, but not bad.
I'm reading the Wanting Seed by Anthony Burgess right now. Good post government end of times shit, if you're into that. The dude writes too much like a professor though.
so many good titles-a great imprint
Yet another NYRB reissue home run.
I always look like a gypsy!Guess I need to "dust" off my copies of these records. I do remember being totally surprised by how wailing his drumming was on these records. Pretty sick resume when you remember he played in the Voidoids too!
When you return to them, make sure you have a look on your face like a gypsy.
