Nothing to add. Just wanted to agree with everything said. This movie rules, the people who made it seem totally nice from my brief interaction/communication with them. Kramer proved his turdliness on fucking with this movie getting out.

The judge in this case seems like a rad guy.

Although the MC5 faded away largely due to drugs, the band lingers on in the memory of many, and would be known to many other but for pending legal feuds.

And: Defendants were first-time filmmakers who spent eight years of their lives trying to create a documentary film that would be historically truthful, a documentary that would celebrate the talent and creativity of the MC5 band, a documentary that would say something about the 60's, and would say something about the present. They succeeded, and the film merits wide distribution for the enjoyment and edification of the masses.

If Mitch goes to this, I'm renting a car and driving down from DC.

Turns out I'm unable to go now, at the last minute. I have a ticket for a 4-day pass I'll sell for $70 (or best offer), which includes overnight shipping. I'll also consider trading it for records.

PM me with offers. Thanks.

Ick, did you ever hear the rumour that the KBD-version Brain Police pressed something like 10,000 copies of that 7"...but threw all the unsold copies away in the early 80s?

I never heard that, but wouldn't be surprised if that had happened. When I lived in Ann Arbor and asked around about it, a lot of people told me it was around "everywhere" at one point.

Whenever I try to find a copy of the Michigan, KBD punk band Brain Police's 7" (one of my top wants right now), I always run into this band's stuff. I need to give 'em a try.

Also, I'm shocked that Mitch (or Missy or Zac) hasn't used this thread to tell about the potato chip buffet we had a few years ago, featuring the amazing selection of chips I brought back from London. Pan-seared sausage with mustard and onion! Honey baked ham with cloves! I don't even remember the rest.

SO FUCKING GOOD.

has any one ever tried rap snacks?  i've only ever seen em in PA.  one had little bow wow and another had missy elliot if memory serves

I actually just had a bag of Lil' Bow Wow "BBQin' With My Honey" flavored Rap Chips last week. I don't think they still make them (the date on the bag was 1994), but they are still floating around here in DC. Half-smokes and rap chips. M'mmmmmm

Spiders and their kins rules! Best song I've heard by Human Eye yet. Love the guitar solo.

Seriously, that song is incredible. Such an amazing band.

The all-time best Tim's Cascade chips were the "Coney Island" flavored chips -- hot dog with mustard flavor. Holy shit they were good.

Non-Music Shit / Re: what are you reading?
« on: February 28, 2007, 07:52:56 AM »
I am trying to read "A Farewell to Arms," but am too distracted by other shit right now.

I'm also re-reading Stanley Booth's "The True Adventures of the Rolling Stones," which I can read over and over.

For some reason I've also found myself picking up "The White House World" by Martha Kumar and getting sucked in. It describes day-to-day operations of the White House, from the transition team when a new president comes in to when they leave office, told through anecdotes and interviews with people from the Ford - GW Bush administrations. I'm a nerd for that kind of behind-the-scene stuff.

I saw them the night after the "bottle" incident in Milwaukee, and he told me that story (may be why he didn't go shit-nuts or anything). He told a better one about their first show, when he wore an arm gauntlet he'd covered in glue and rolled in broken glass and had to stop after a couple songs because he'd hit an artery while flailing around. He said he has the gauntlet encased in glass now.

It wasn't after a couple songs -- they had to stop after the first note of the first song! I saw a video of it...and it was a Nintendo PowerGlove covered in glass. Just amazing.
