Non-Music Shit / Re: Weird record shapes

The worst thing about Eva-Tone was that it was run by a bunch of right-wing Christians. So if they found anything in your music to be "objectionable" they wouldn't press it.

That said, I can remember the last time I played any of my flexis. They're a total pain in the ass and sound like shit.

Seriously, the new Jay Reatard album is definitely great. I've listened to it about four times today.

Bloomington people, is the show at Second Story this Saturday gonna sell out? Should I have someone down there get me a ticket in advance?

It's a soundtrack of a movie based on a totally shitty book. It's gonna have problems.

I guess the soundtrack looks okay, due to the licensing rights Scott's mentioned, but especially given how bad the book was -- for what it omitted and overlooked as well as what it gave WAY too much attention to.

Music Shit / Re: The Worst Band You've Ever Seen
« on: September 14, 2006, 08:44:32 AM »
this band called the awesome cool dudes that opened for battleship in austin. they are described as 'electronic experimental folk-pop'. bad bad bad. it even started a conversation along the lines of what's the worst band you've ever seen. although the next night battleship was supposed to open for the vibrators in dallas, and by the looks of things, this had potential to be the worst band i've ever seen, but SOME GENIUS left equipment back in Austin, so we had to miss the vibrators.

That was an all around bad night (Austin, that is).

There are so, so many bad bands. On that same Battleship tour, one of the worst phenomenons in general were the ironicly un-hip (yet very hip) shithole keyboard "art" bands. Every single one of them were unlistenable. They're just a blur of bulky sunglasses, too-tight, vintage '80s t-shirts and pale chicken legs stuffed in short shorts.

Like old man Soriano, I no longer stick around for shitty bands. Life's too short.

Also, Chooglin is an AWESOME name for a band of that type. I can tell what they sound like just from the name.

Short Eyes

I second that.

My theory is that they're saving Michael's face time for later in the season, playing up the wackos now to suck people in. That doesn't explain why he hasn't made top three yet though.

During the whole show I was hating Bradley and ranting like a Goldwater Republican about dope-smoking slacker hippies who can't get their shit together. Then he pulled off that hail mary and I changed my tune...though Michael should've been in the top three, not Bradley. Maybe that was a producer decision?

Tim Gunn walking those dogs???  MY HEART LEPT OUT OF MY CHEST.  TV moment of 2006 thus far.

Where is Kors???

I can't decide if who I hate more, Keith or Angela.  At least Keith gets banished next week.  I wish that freakish sternum lady would smother him with her bony chest.

Vincent is a psycho.

Last night was the first time I've gotten to watch this season. I'm already fucking stoked to see Keith get kicked off next week. There couldn't be a more fitting way for him to go.

And Angela needs to go back to her hippie commune and die. She won't last unless it's for entertainment value.

There's a like a teaser episode on tonight, I think featuring all the try-outs and shit.

Too bad I'm going to miss it tomorrow night though.

Mitch, you'll have to give me a recap.

You'd get a good amount for the Bad Times LP. I sold a double I had about a year ago and I think it went for $30-40 or so.

It is stupid that those Carbonas 7"s -- records that came out just a few years ago and really aren't all that rare -- sell for so much.

They've been asking me since I did that single with them. This time I decided I'd give it a shot, try to actually make it happen.
