Used Records For Sale/Auctions/Wantlists / Re: CONTEMPORARY WANTS
« on: September 28, 2015, 08:52:00 AM »
This isn't a record, but if anyone has new or used copies of the first two Savage Damage Digest available I would love to get them. Just read number 3 and the Larry Wallis article was great. Chuck Biscuits and Electric Eels in 4 were very enjoyable as well.

You might try hitting up Cory via Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/savage.damage.9

I've been to Bakersfield a few times, never for very long, but always had a good time. Of the Central Valley places the DJ Rick mentioned (Fresno, Stockton, Modesto, Bakersfield) Bakersfield easily tops the list as the best of those cities. Shit, it's got a really good record store (Going Underground). It's a decent city if for no other reason than that...plus everything Rick said.

I grew up in Flint, spent plenty of time in Sagnasty, Detroit, etc. As a result I always used to make it a point to visit the "worst" neighborhoods in every city I visited. Few are worse off than Flint- Gary, Crow Nation Reservation in Montana, come to mind. Some were rough stuff but not horrible: Pasco, Danville, Yakima, Naptown, Muskegon, Belfast, Dublin, Marseilles and so on. Many were actually funny- the "worst" neighborhoods in Seattle, Kobnhavn, Aalborg, Stockholm, and Portland are way nicer than anything in Flint.

I can't say I've spent a ton of time in Flint, but this is pretty true. Anytime I'm in a shitty neighborhood I just think it's not quite as bad as Flint.

Upcoming Shows/Tours/Events / Re: Final Hunches Tour

I hate so much that I was on tour in the same time zone and missed all of these. Been worshipping the discography a lot lately. Murrrrrrman - you should re-upload your photos!

It's wild that one of the best bands of the time is so poorly documented in our fascist app documentation age

I've got a set of those photos on Flickr, here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/icki/sets/72157620724262286
The Sacramento show with the Mayyors was nuts.

And hey, Rich, I'll leave you my posters from this tour in my will.

The original trilogy was released on DVD, but only for a limited time, and they came with the new, enhanced version, in a 2xDVD set (for each movie).

Non-Music Shit / Re: National Hot Dog Day!

There are no good hot dog options in downtown SF. The few places near my work that were okay got turned into a stupidfucking $9 fresh juice stand and an asian "streetfood" (ie: overpriced Americanized Asian food) place. THUMBS DOWN

Matt Stonie knocked off Joey Chestnut with 62 hot dogs!

http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2015/07/04/us/ap-us-hot-dog-contest.html?_r=0

NEW YORK ? Matt Stonie shocked the competitive eating world on Saturday by upsetting Joey "Jaws" Chestnut at the Fourth of July hot dog eating contest at Nathan's Famous in Coney Island, breaking Chestnut's bid for a ninth straight victory.

Stonie, 23, who finished second last year, downed 62 hot dogs and buns, beating Chestnut by two. Both are from San Jose, California.

As thousands of spectators observed the eaters on an elevated stage, the next closest competitor ate 32 hot dogs.

"I trained hard for this. This is actually amazing," Stonie told ESPN, which broadcast the competition live like the major sporting event its biggest fans say it has become.

Afterward, Stonie, holding his fist in the air in victory, said he came into the competition confident and prepared.

Chestnut, smiling in defeat, said he was slow and couldn't catch Stonie.

"I've been looking for competition for a long time and I finally have it," he said, vowing to return next year. "He made me hungry."
