theres a label called definitive juxtaposition, i think thats what its called, good stuff be on that label. argh.

My ex used to listen to a lot of stuff on this label, and it was every bit as shitty as every other hip hop record.  That said, it also has nothing to do with the stuff being discussed here, which is why so many over-educated liberal white girls pretend to like it.
yes, you are right will smith is far better hardcore rap

Music Shit / Re: "Everything Weird = Good"

This is a great time for music because there are quite a few people who like a broad range of music.  You can go from Good Night Loving and King Khan and BBQ to LiveFastDie and Career Suicide, but they all still fall under punk.  Just like Rock, punk has become a broad term.  Nowadays, you'll have bands that have influences from all over place, and they'll merge together all the good things about each gerne.  If anyone is complaining about the state of music these days then they are truly foolish.  This is THE best time for punk/weird/whatever. Period.
I must agree,at the dawn of rock the shitty cock rock(maybe not cock rock, but you know what i mean) consisted of the monkeys and bands of the such, but beneath the surface there was greatness waiting to explode. The only difference is now the shitty cock rock belongs to fall out boy and bands of the suck, while underneath the surface there lies balls out rock such as carbonas, the black lips(maybe not as much as before but still flying under the frat fucks' radar),times new viking and others of the such. These are by no means obscure bands. That is unless you are one of those guys who listens to a band only after it has gone quadruple platinum.

I also just funished "This is your brain on music", a cognitive neuroscientist's explanation of the human obsesssion with music.

Worth reading?
It's worth reading in my opinon, but because the auditory neroscience has only become a major scientific topic in the last 20 or so years it left me still asking questions.

Human Eye, i stumbled across them when i was 15 or so, not the most unknown band, but i still felt happy that i found them. If you haven't heard them, which i imagine most of you have by now, check them out.
Also a band called the bug chasers, young kids who play good music.

This is titled "The Legend of Leroy Jenkem"

There once was a little boy named Leroy
and fecal matter was his favorite toy
Oh the fecal matter he did adore
but one day he yearned for more

Left his leavings be for a solem week
Did not touch them until they truly reeked
He toiled and toiled with sincere lament
For it took many moons for the stew to ferment

But when his nostrils sniffed the funky gas
He smelled the sweet aroma of butt hash
Now cheap high seekers laud and thank him
He is a man among men, the great Leroy Jenkem!
I've got one better
Jenkem my true love
Be it from a bag or glove
It arouses me

The Audio Engineer's Handbook... boring at about 1500 pages, but seemingly very helpful in recording and live sound.
I also just funished "This is your brain on music", a cognitive neuroscientist's explanation of the human obsesssion with music.

Music Shit / Re: Record sales "lowest ever recorded" in 2007
« on: January 07, 2008, 06:54:52 PM »
The article says that the digital record sales are down, but that really isn't saying much when you consider that most people won't pay for a record that they can't hold in their hands and actually consider part of their collection.

As for my actual opinon as much as possible i try to buy an out of  town band's records pretty much any time i go to a show. I do this not only so i have another recordto enjoy, but also so i know that i am doing my part in helping these guys make it from town to town, because let's face it, that shit doesn't come cheap.
