That's not the newest Sic Alps record. Siltbreeze has just released one (don't know if it's on vinyl). Speaking of which, someone had the Fabulous Diamonds up the day it came out and I told Lax about it.

I bought a CDr from the Vivian Girls before the LP came out. Demos not really for sale, but I gave them a few bucks. I did download the LP, did not pass it along to anyone, probably won't buy it (don't like it) and will probably delete it from my Itunes. Figure THAT one out.

at the time, it was the newest sic alps cd.  is "u.s. ez" out (officially) yet?

that second part sounds like you're just trying to stump someone with your convoluted scenarios.

i downloaded the v.g. album from that link after i couldn't find it for sale anywhere (after hearing a few tracks on their myspace page).  in fact, i think i found the demoniazed site during while i was searching for distros that might carry it.

i listened to the downloads to see what all the fuss was about.  i like it, it's a great album.  i also plan to get a copy on vinyl when itr reissues it.  i've bought both their other releases in the last couple weeks, and checked ebay for copies of the lp but won't pay over $20 for it knowing it's gonna get a re-issue.

on the other hand, demoniazed posted the newest sic alps cd comp. on animal disguise around the day it came out.  somehow, i think that's a pretty shitty thing to do.

itr is doing a vinyl and cd repress.  the album is really good, but it was only released a freakin' month ago!  it sold out in a week, so obviously folks were all over it.  but seriously, $100??

A band from L.A. called The Bronx covered it on some mini-CD they released a few years ago.  Surprisingly, it's a pretty good version.

That's really funny. Maybe Adam did to go Delaware?

Delaware, Ohio is a small town north of Columbus, where Lamsbread (Ecstatic Peace Recs) is from.  I think it was Adam from Times New Viking that told me this, and I figured that he should know since their keyboard player was/is dating the other dude that was playing guitar in the Hospitals (not Adam S.).  As far as I know, though, it never really happened.

Speaking of The Hospitals, I first HEARD they'd broken up (ie Adam was no longer gonna do it) and moved to Delaware, Ohio, to live and record shit with Lambsbread.  Then I read that they're back as a five piece?  I'm guessing the second is true as they recently played some shows w. The Intelligence.

The Coachwhips are alright; John Dwyer's new band, Yikes!, is pretty good, too.  Mike from Sic Alps and Folding Cassettes label plays drums.

Icky Boyfriends are pretty rad, too.  Def worth picking up for six bucks.

Music Shit / the Horrors (UK)
« on: November 28, 2006, 07:02:23 AM »
I read about these clowns in my girlfriend's Nylon magazine last night, and my initial reaction, after reading about what "record geeks" and music snobs they are, was to totally blow them off.

Out of curiosity, however, I gave their myspace tracks a listen this morning, and (honestly) they aren't so bad at all.  www.myspace.com/thehorrors

Has anyone else heard them?  Will someone justify my dislike of this band simply based on the way they (and their fans) look?  Please?

Music Shit / New Sic Alps LP
« on: November 08, 2006, 07:59:34 AM »
"Pleasures and Treasures" on Animal Disguise.  Got it last week and just started listening to it a couple days ago.  More noise, and less rock, than their 12" on Mt. St. Mtn., but still really good.  I think the "Teenage Alps" cassette is my favorite, though (That Zipps cover and the instrumentals on the flipside).

Adam Stonehouse recorded and plays on the LP, so at times it's a bit reminiscent of the first Hospitals EP and their ITR album, especially the last few tracks on the B side.  Which isn't bad, if you're into that kinda thing.

Anyone else heard this yet?
