i always view as a guest ever since i found out that people watch what topic you are looking at. i'd prefer not to have someone know what i'm doing, even if it is reading "termbo traffic".

there is a book devoted entirely to the island label. not the label as a whole, just the labels on the records. all of them. 1001 collector dreams reads like a william eggleston photobook compared to that mundane shit.

i put all LPs in plastic sleeves with the opening facing up. the record is stored outside the jacket in the back. any inserts of other materials are behind the LP for easy access. this is an adopted method, but it really works the best.

however, i have no filing system at all, and can rarely find the record i'm looking for in the stacks around the record player.

i don't know. In the Red. Goner. maybe thats it.

Alive is a big enough (Bomp subsidiary and all), i'm just thinking of the clout those labels have among a very specific audience.

i think it might work better for you if you did set a price. otherwise its a basically a silent auction.  its got to be a lot to keep track of.

i agree on the first album. i didn't like it as much as i had enjoyed the live show at that point.
however, they've changed a lot since then, evolving into a much different band. if you ask me.

steve:
 just get one of these:

http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=technics+sl+d2&category0=

its the only turntable i've ever had (inherited from my grandfather years ago).
direct drive
S-shaped tone arm
pitch control outside the dust cover
auto-rejects at the end of the record
not too busy control wise
has NEVER given me a bit of trouble. ever.
isn't one of those stupid DJ decks everyone thinks they fucking need.

get a nice listening cartridge and forget all about your turntable woes

No one talks about them at all. Why?

I suppose they sit somewhere between too weird for the garage people, and too garage-y for the weird people, or something to that effect.  there is no talk of them at all on terminal boredom, but i am always really impressed with their live shows.

Being at many of their first shows in boston, i thought they had something very compulsive gamblers-ish early on, but they've morphed into something completely different over the years. they are now occupying some middle ground,  sounding like the fall one moment, and more straight ahead punk the next, while still maintaining some (i cringe saying this) soulful element in vocal delivery.

the newest LP (which i just got two days ago) still doesn't do their live presence justice, but i think the songs are definitely more interesting than anything oblivians inspired that has come out in the past 5 years. Tara is a great drummer, Justin a great guitarist, and Zack is great on the keys. their show a couple days ago in new york succeeded in ways that nearly every other band i've seen lately has failed (excepting tyvek, PH, PR, etc...). i think they are one of the few interesting "garage" bands around.

any thoughts on the turpentine brothers? why do other similar bands land deals with elite G.P. labels, while they toil away releasing records on the Alive and Alien Snatches of the world?

My copy does have the song order corrected with a ballpoint pen, which actually made me appreciate it even more.

yeah, so does mine!  pretty cool

yeah, the first press had corrected track list in ballpoint pen. the 2nd press just has the wrong tracklist.

here is the decoder:

1 = 3
2 = 6
3 = 2
4 = 1
5 = 4
6 = 5
7 = 7

meaning cleoma is the third track, two gospel keys are 6th, etc...

i guess i'm the only person in the world that thinks Pre-Apocalyptic is the hit song among the first two they put up. i really like the other one too though.

i also like "hologram" better than "i'm a bug" or "ack ack ack ack" though. so it makes sense i guess.

"i don't care" is fantastic of course.

thank harry for finding 'em first. no doubt.
