Music Shit / Re: Happy birthday Too $hort

too $hort is so great.  his last two singles that came out with his latest LP "married to the game" were amazing.  Lil' Jon was on the production on alot of those songs and they were awesome.  download or purchase those songs, especially "shake that monkey." Alot of those dirty south cats tip their hats to too $hort.  it makes sense.

on a side note, when my friend moved to oakland, the people at his corner store said that too $hort had just been there.  he was doing some free shows at corner stores in Oakland sponsered by henessey, or something similar.  it's a damn shame my friend missed it, cause i'm sure a show like that would be pretty fucking awesome.

And Cool Ruler, I love the Big D just as much as the next guy. I've read a big chunk of his major works and would rank them in the following order:

1) Brothers Karamazov

damn right...

Too bad most of what academia concerns itself with is theoretical claptrap without any relationship to real-life.

TOLSTOY 4 LIFE BEEZ NITCHES. That may seem random, but read "War and Peace" and it won't.

yeah, second that first thought.  and Tolstoy's fine, but my main man is Doestoyevsky any day.

isn't there something inherently wrong in buying a tshirt for a punk band for $61?

There's one other I don't think anyone mentioned.  KStarke Records is pretty sweet.  It's on Western on block south of Division on the east side of the street.  Mostly used, slighty over priced, but when I go there I usually can pull a small handful of gems that I would be hard pressed to find anywhere else.

The Donnas first 7" that i got for $20 signed by the hot one (authenticity unconfirmable)
Which one's the hot one?  Depending on which picture you're looking at, 3/4 of 'em could be the hot one.  Although, more often than not it's the singer...
yeah, they are all pretty fine, but i'm talking about the guitar player.

god bless america...

The Bold Ones 7", that ended up being really fucking good, possibly the best of the three Hozac singles that just came out.
The Rock N Roll Adventure Kids Live on Bezerkeley Radio LP (awesome!)

Music Shit / Re: Soul comps
« on: April 15, 2008, 12:42:27 PM »

I think Jump and Shout is pretty money.  There's at least 4 tracks on there that you could put on at a party and turn it out every time.  I like the "Gloria" song.  Lookey Dookey is worth getting just so you have Bobby Long and the Satellites doing "Mojo Workout" which is the greatest song ever.

which soul comps has the most, best, surefire hits for people who like to dance and party?  that's the real question...
