After 5+ years of being a being a band a lost job or two has finally allowed The Yolks to embark on our very first tour (which will probably our only tour ever)  This may very well be your one and only chance to finally experience The Yolks in person and figure out just how they earned the right to be called The Kings of Awesome.  We'll be headed west with the other coolest band from Chicago, The Biz, formerly known as Brian's Dirty Business.  (Remember that hit, Wiggle it Around from the Party Platter comp?) They just recorded their first 7" that's gonna be released on Florida's Dying maybe maybe maybe in time for tour.  Keep your fingers crossed.  The Biz are honestly fucking awesome and tons of fun.  See them now and brag about it to your grandchildren later. The Yolks will be playing a lot of the hits from our records, but we're also gonna be bringing out a Hammond Organ that we just got and really bringing the fucking heat on that Booker T and the MG's / rhythm-and-mother-fucking-blues tip.  Don't miss out.  Here's the dates:

Fri July 27th - Kansas City, KS- FOKL, 556 Central Ave, w/ Droves and Continents
Sat July 28th - Denver, CO - Unit B, 2232 Lawrence St., w/ Dream Police
Sun July 29th - chillin' somewhere near Las Vegas
Mon July 30th - Fullerton, CA - Burger Records w/ tba
Tue July 31st - getting nugged somewhere by the ocean
Wed Aug 1st - Oakland, CA - Eli's w/ Teenage Burritos and The Vomettes
Thu Aug 2nd - San Francisco, CA - The Knockout w/ Okmoniks(!) and The Shrouds?
Fri Aug 3rd - Seattle WA - Pizza Fest w/ tons of awesome bands
Sat Aug 4th - Portland, OR - SMMR BMMR with tons of awesome bands

It's about to get really REAL in this mug.  Spread the word.

Nah, you don't really need a barcode.  They've accepted records from me with no barcode.

Upcoming Shows/Tours/Events / Re: SXSW 2012 THREAD
« on: March 21, 2012, 07:16:19 AM »
The best bands at SXSW were probably locals: OBN iii's, Bad Sports, and Fleshlights KILLED it.  Oh Sees were awesome as always.  I dug that I heard two Bob Dylan cover songs from the Resonars and Natural Child.  Best band I had never heard of before was Hector's Pets.  Spider House in general blew my mind.  I don't think ANY band sounded like the Oh Sees, but alot sounded the same/did not stand out, but that's how it goes.  Most bands good, few great.

But the high life of SXSW was the Juicy J show.  No irony.  That shit was fucking tits.

I've been really into Hannibal Buress lately, dude cracks me up.

that guy rules, we listened to a lot of him on tour last summer

I love Hannibal.  He came to the school I taught at and did comedy a few years back, and I'd never heard of him.  He blew the other two comics out of the water.    This is a newer video of his that is pretty hilarious:

One person that has not been mentioned yet is Martin Lawrence.  "You So Crazy" is up there with Eddie Murphy's "Raw" or "Delirious" in my personal opinion.  When I was 19 I probably watched it like 20 times.  I think the whole video is on you tube now.  Part 1 is here:

Wow, I had the opposite reaction to this episode.  I thought it was hilarious from beginning to end, and I like the new character Shane.  Favorite part was when Kenny's sister in law was trying to get him to take the baby.  I saw this and was psyched for the season.

i won't even begin to attempt to answer this question. i've been buying records for 20 years based on weather or not they have crazy organ in 'em or not.

I wish you would...
