If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.  As of now I've contacted Richie from Clockcleaner and he said he'd try to find something, but he already has his birthday show the next night.  That would have been perfect, but Baltimore confirmed their show pretty quickly.
unfortunately, i dont have any sggestions. i'm not really up on how these things come together out here.

i think it's true that some hipinion threads have reach, though, seeing as its the spinoff of the pitchfork forum and threads there still seem to inform pitchfork's appraisal of new music.

that hipinion thread is basically the same 7 or 8 people talking the whole time though, and over a few months.

i don't think it could have the kind of reach to make ny go gonzo

Music Shit / Re: siltbreeze feature on pitchfork

I don't think anyone has said "oh great, Pitchfork mentioned us, now we're gonna be swimming in money and pussy." I know I don't believe that.

of course, and im not trying to accuse you of that either.  im was just trying to point out that there's so much getting mentioned on pitchfork on a daily basis that it takes a few times before people pay attention.  you might see a peak in myspace listens today but i doubt a large jump in sales....although, since its a label spotlight this might not be completely accurate when compared to a single band mention.

im not even assuming you care to impress the PF readers but i was trying to point out that siltbreeze getting mentioned at all is probably part of a larger scheme to push TNV and is backed by someone somewhere with financial interest.  for example....the siltbreeze article is a feature called 'through the cracks' where they mention things the should have been hip to a while ago but for some reason didnt.  this time they're talking about TNV's previous releases only a few days after they feature they're new album on matador.   do a PF search for they previous feature 'through the cracks' and you'll find a blood visions review the same day they reported jay reatard signing to matador.... coincidence?

i know this probably comes accross extremely pesimistic but its just how i feel about their reporting....don't confuse that with my opinions of the bands b/c i wish them the best.
yeh this is definitely that PF hype-MO. they have three sections that go across the top, plus ads, and when they got a new pet project, they like to put ads and a news article or two up, then a track review, then an album review all in the span of a like a week or two. if they can tie some shit in the "columns" section to the further the cause, then they do that too i guess.

Music Shit / Re: Electronic and print magazines that still review vinyl?
« on: February 19, 2008, 06:43:40 AM »
dustedmagazine.com does a vinyl "round-up"-type feature about once a month, i think all the reviews are written by one or two guys. it seems like that site has a pretty wide readership, but i can't say how many people are tuned into that particular column, because they also run standard reviews daily.

haha yeh, it's true that people from toledo (myself included) can get pretty defensive about the place even though there's not actually much to defend.
