yeh that allied location is pretty good if you're in the market for cd's. very little vinyl. i tend to avoid that chain though cos the guys who work at them weird and annoying.

when i'm there i tend to shop at Ramalama on central, mostly because Rob, the main guy who works there, is a cool guy and fun to talk to. it's a small store, but they  tend to have an ok selection of punk records (at least compared to lots of the other stores in town) and some gems in the stacks of used records.

No argument there, although I've heard there are some interesting experimental bands from the 80s and early 90s with cassette-only self-releases.  I have not found any yet.
i believe in the possibility, though i've never come across anything of that ilk either.

it is currently a pretty hard place to be in a good band.

plug: if anyone looking to send shit to radio stations wants to send stuff the way of WSRN (swarthmore, pa), we'd appreciate it. we overspent on new stuff last semester.

New Releases For Sale/Distro Updates / Re: poppets - pre-party 7"

until now no US distro has them because... its too expensive. blame it on the weak dollar and the ridiculous shipping costs. so maybe order directly or bug your fave distro to get them.

someone in the US has to get this one!
for real

CLOWNING ON BITCHES is pretty good, but i prefer garage-wank

as far as new stuff goes, Blank Dogs ended up getting about as much play on my school's station last semester as anything else, by a surprising variety of people too. a lot of people dug on poppier stuff like Gentleman Jesse, Thomas Function, and the Boston Chinks too. and i guess bigger names like Black Lips and King Khan and the Shrines/King Khan and BBQ Show got decent play. Wooden Shjips too, at the beginning of the semester when it was one of like three cd's on the playlist.

surprisingly, other big name stuff like Times New Viking, Intelligence, and Jay Reatard didn't really get played by anyone who wasn't me. i was also kind of taken back by the  lack of support for Carbonas and Busy Signals, i pushed those ones hard.

i don't have radio stats to support it, but Pumice "Pebbles" LP might be a good choice.

well, fuzzy for what it is anyway. not like the single was remarkably fuzzed out or anything, but i mean, the new cuts sound clean in comparison. the vocals and guitars do not sound distorted the way that they do on the 7".

the new stuff they have had on their myspace all sounded good, even though they seem to have ditched the fuzzy sound they had going on the single.
