I thought OM did an excellent job transitioning out of the CD era into this new, murky last gasp of mixed format/gathering space. I think in the Times article they said sales were almost an even split between vinyl and CD. I loved the location, it was for the last 5 years directly between my job and my wife's office, so I would drop in multiple times a week on my way to work. Used bins were small but always fairly priced, found a lot of gems.

Nothing about OM's model failed except the rent is too damn high + music industry, etc. When I heard what their current rent was, I was shocked at how low it still was. They could move across the river and tag along for another 10 years fairly easily, I'm sure plenty of folks would follow, but so much about OM was the location.

I believe that Kontroversy was recorded in Mono only, so that's really the only way it should be heard.

Also my current favorite, after a long period where Something Else was the tops.

RIP, Thin White Duke.

Those Pearlman boots are some of the worst looking I've seen in a while.

When the bird shot the dude I didn't really care. Anyone?

You're not supposed to care, because you know his character will return. It's a nice cliffhanger though.

Great episode.

Amazingly bad, down to the "LET ME TELL YOU MORE ABOUT THESE SHITTY PEOPLE AND THEIR SHITTY LIVES WITH THE SONG THE SINGER IN THE SHOW IS SINGING" moments. Unbearable.

I was cringing through the last 20 minutes. The extended JW Blue commercial being the second most offensive part after that terrible song.

Still, I will watch.

Not a good start. I'm guessing that Fukunaga may have been the real MVP of season 1, the mood/feel that drew you in and allowed some of the more ridiculous dialogue to resonate. This season has a less interesting setting (for me at least) and poor (not even lesser compared to) direction, and I think there will be 5-6 directors leading to a potential mishmash clusterfuck. Hopefully this was just the set-up and it settles in...and at least gives us a worthy plot.

Agree 100%.

RIP Ornette.

Saw him play (with Denardo on drums) at fancy concert hall in SF about 9 years ago with user: superiorviaduct. Opened with Lonely Woman, I think. He was wearing a cobalt blue suit. Good show from what I can recall.

Strangely enough, Science Fiction was the record that turned me into fan, then I went backwards and frontwards (agree with others that Body Meta and Dancing in my Head are nearly as satisfying as his classics).

Melbourne is so great, both them and twerps really took a big step with their new lps

Both of these records are excellent.

Like my team plenty, but my draft started to fall apart in the 8th round or so. Should've drafted more pitching around then, but I stuck to the best player available until my offense was nearly stacked. Oh well. Pitching on the wire is easier to find. Definitely reached on too many guys, but when you do that, you know, they become your guys. Biggest regret: passing on Kenley in the 11th round or Allen/Bryant/de Grom in the 10th? All guys I was ready to grab a round later.

Yeah Abreu won't slip to 8 or 9. He's going to be great again.

Joined a few mock drafts today, and I noticed a huge hole in the 4-7/8 round tiers. Seems like there's a pretty clear top-35 or so and then a pretty dramatic dropoff to guys who are either on the way up or down (Betts, Hamilton, Gordon?, Pooholes, A Gonzalez). I will probably have 4 RP by the 8th round.

I have always found Feliciano's early Spanish LPs are really easy to follow. Try to track this whole record down:
