man, looking at some of those recently posted showcases makes me really wish i were going. especially that wfmu showcase. the whiskey bent showcase rivals the silbreeze list as well.

picked up the feeling of love 90's 7" last night and it is fantastic. i've made picking up the rest of their stuff a priority.

now playing: rain dogs...which is continuing my longtime love/hate relationship with waits. for the past few years it's been veering towards the dislike side but i think i may be coming back around to the rain dogs/swordfish period. the sound of this record is hitting me in all the right places today.

i've seen the unholy 2 dozens of times and i'm pretty sure never with a synth.
you may be thinking of adam smith's use of the echoplex, which can churn out some pretty wild sounds. he runs chris' guitar and vocals and his guitar through the echoplex.

and yeah, uncle tom's production is perfect for them.

Music Shit / Re: record pressing / samples?
« on: February 07, 2008, 05:13:13 AM »
Turns out the sample is from a call in radio show.  Its a recording of the guy who called in.  Anyone have any idea of how this will fall into copyright laws and other bs?

white stripes are getting sued for a radio show clip they used on De Stijl, but it took 8 years for this guy to figure it out:

if your record ever gets that big you might be in trouble.

same as the cd i believe, he's doing lp only, likely 500 copies.
a nice start to what should be an even better year than last.

Music Shit / Re: Clockclean eR Tour Diary

this is a pretty funny read. sharkey is an a+ asshole and knows how to get under just about anyone's skin. here's where i rank clockcleaner's business, as of now:

the concept of clockcleaner > clockcleaner's tour diary > clockcleaner's recordings > clockcleaner live

Music Shit / Re: What Is the Value of the Sex Pistols to You?
« on: January 22, 2008, 10:45:30 AM »
i think mr. woodbe's one-sheet may have something to do with that guy's sex pistols comparison.
but on the other hand, tnv do make use of the punk-as-pop (in the warhol sense) vibe that mclaren attempted with the pistols.
still, lazy journalistic move.

at face value the pistols' music is great. much of what came out of it is ridiculously lame (hot topic punk, articles with poor sex pistols references), but for the most part i enjoy the music and films about them/with them, etc...

Yeah I called that store in Seattle, they said they were out. Online store still listed them so what the hey! Chumped again!

i tried as well...he said they still had a few TNV singles though.
they better just repress the thing.
and to think, i was standing in front of a box full of those records, too drunk to shell out 10 bucks for one.
