Music Shit / Re: have you seen the sex pistols?

I also saw them in 96 and it was what it was. They sounded good, but were obviously going through the motions. Glen Matlock had something to prove so that was funny.

I saw Public Image five times in the '80s and also in 2010 and 2012. They were great every time. These days Johnny drops his persona while on stage and just performs. He still sounds great. The 2010 show was the day after they played Cochella which was apparently horrible for them because Johnny kept thanking us for being a "real" audience which cracked me up. They played the Regency in SF which is a big place and it was maybe 1/3 full in 2010, 1/2 full in 2012, but they still put on a great show playing for almost two hours.

Meanwhile the sale of KUSF still has not be approved 20 months after it was "announced".

Surprised and very disappointed to not see one other Bay Area City Rock fan at the Eddie Money show last night.
Eddie was in great form cracking a bunch of jokes, playing sax, harmonica and tambourine, flirting with all the women, making fun of his band and having a ball. Does he still do coke? He didn't seem coked out at all, but the guitarist did a an acoustic solo while Money left the stage for a few minutes. Probably just had to keep up pretenses. He said "C'mon Ladies" 46 times. Of his bass player he said, "He's single ladies. And he has had a condom in his wallet for twelve years." Of his keyboard player, "Don't give him a drink. He just got out of Betty Ford." Seeing anyone at Yoshi's SF is cool and weird at the same time, but this was particularly strange. A great time.

Music Shit / Re: KUSF no longer broadcasting on air
« on: April 18, 2012, 11:29:48 AM »
15 months since the shutdown and the FCC has still not approved the sale. The opposition will tell you they expect it to be decided by July, but that is when their current broadcasting arrangement (LMA) expires so they may have other reasons for saying that.

One interesting thing however is that when the FCC meets this month they will probably be discussing third party fundraising on non-commercial stations. If they reach a decision on it, it will affect the arrangement at USF. Radio Survivor as usual has the more indepth story if you're interested.

In the interim, we are still preparing for whatever comes next.

We have a great show coming up this Friday - 4/20.

Also have any SFers seen USF's new ad campaign around town? It is so amazingly bad. My least fave: "Learn to run a multinational corporation and still go to heaven." Yikes!

Coming soon to a Muni bus near you. USF only spent one million dollars on it too.

I think there was another single, too,

Yes. 2011's "TV's Killing Me/Wasn't That Fun". It is another great one. My favorite though is the "Three Mile Baby" EP from 2001.
