Music Shit / Re: KUSF no longer broadcasting on air
« on: January 17, 2012, 06:12:53 PM »
TOMORROW!!!
KUSF will be protesting at Entercom, 201 3rd St at Howard in SF at 10 am - the very moment KUSF was kicked off the air last year. Why Entercom, you ask? Because Entercom is the money behind the deal, they have been the only the one benefiting so far and those allegedly non-profit, generic classical musical sounds you hear coming from 90.3fm orginate from Entercom's studios. WTF! is right. Hopefully, you can make it. I know it is a school day and all, but take a coffee break if you can. The more, the noisier!

As we enter 2012 the FCC still has not approved the sale of 90.3fm to CPRN.
AND
Wednesday, January 18 is the anniversary of the shutdown of KUSF on 90.3fm. To commemorate this we will be protesting at Entercom at 10 am - the very hour we were kicked off the air and rudely locked out of our station.
I know 10am on a Wednesday is not a good time for people to get out to a protest, but if you can please join us. We are expecting a good crowd including SF's new sheriff Ross Mirkarimi. Our last protest at Entercom was tons of fun. Yelling at those corporate bastards is really cathartic. Plus my archenemy will be getting off the air at that time. I am not sure if he broadcasts from SF (I think he's in San Jose), but you know I am ready to yell at him when I see him.

Entercom is at 201 3rd Street at Howard, SF.
Come on out if you can!

Hi.
It's been a while, but I really haven't had anything to report. We are still waiting on the FCC to make a decision. But I did want to say that 10 months ago today KUSF was shut down and I am happy to report the sale has not been finalized. We are tenacious DJs. hahaha. I wish I could be a fly on the wall at USF, CPRN or Entercom to see what the reaction is there.
We have some very cool benefits coming up in December plus we are working on a big event for the 1st anniversary on Jan 18.
Go to http://savekusf.org/events or http://www.facebook.com/SaveKUSF#!/SaveKUSF?sk=events for details.
And listen to KUSF In Exile.
Thanks for your support too.

If you missed The Rip Offs Friday night at Budget Rock, I feel sorry for you. As a consolation prize here is their guest DJ slot from Friday afternoon at KUSF In Exile.

The Rip Offs Guest DJ

The Rip Offs prove they are still the funniest band in punk by starting off their set with Yes.

Hey procrasinators! KUSF In Exile is having a contest to give away two Budget Rock weekend passes, but it isn't easy. In fact, it's really hard. See if you can guess all 10 bands.

also, what song is that they stole for the "ba ba ba ba ba baaaa" for that one song on side two?

It's a cover of "The Breakup Song (They Don't Write 'Em)" by my arch enemy. He is too lame to be considered city rock. Denkinger, Mitch, isn't there a way he can be excommunicated?

Resineators are a great band. Anthony Bedard guitarist from Hank IV, drummer of Icky Boyfriends plays drums and sings. David Nudelman of Three Stoned Men plays guitar and sings. I consider Bob the singer of Hank IV, but Anthony does sing too soo..
Sounds like you have the first record which has the song "Microphones Are Not Provided" factually based on one of the lower periods of the Purple Onion when Tom had no microphones so he told you to bring your own. The second album on Siltbreeze http://www.midheaven.com/item/dont-blank-with-the-fantasy-by-resineators-siltbreeze has another great song about the Purple Onion called "Underage Girl (Get Out!)" which was also based on true events. I miss the Purple Onion.
Resineators play about once a year in SF when David Nudelman visits from Hawaii where he now lives.

Upcoming Shows/Tours/Events / Re: ZOUNDS in the U.S.

The shows in SF and Berkeley were great.
I heard 800 people were at the Echoplex in LA. Was anyone there? Is that true? The shows I went to were packed, but no way near 800 people. Wow.
