Debut 7" on Mammoth Cave is available now (mammothcave.bigcartel.com) - we'll be having a big boxing-week sale in our webstore starting Saturday. We'll also have 50 of the self-released Sharp Ends single (100 press) that just came in today that will go up on the site this weekend - this thing is a fucking monster - their first four songs, and still 4 of my favourites. If you liked the HoZac single, you will LOVE this one.

We've got two new 7"s that are ready to go!
Wholesale rates available - get in touch (Florida's Dying is getting a bunch of these)

Sharp Ends 7"
A: Crack Trap
B: Loaded Hearts

Comes with Download Code!
www.myspace.com/sharpends

Fresh off their debut on Chicago's Hozac Records, Sharp Ends deliver their 2nd of three 7"s coming out in Fall 2009 (with each single decreasing in availability). For this one, Sharp Ends combine their early Joy Division vibe with more of a pop sensibility on the b-side, Loaded Hearts, though the killer here is Crack Trap, which has one of the catchiest guitar hooks we've heard in some time. Essential.

The Moby Dicks 7"
A1: Ballad of The Red Dog
A2: Fuck Off Baby
B1: Mike Molloy
B2: Ogo Pogo (Hubble Bubble Cover... kind of)

Comes with Download Code
www.myspace.com/themobydicksandstuff%E2%80%9D

The Moby Dicks are a three piece (bass/guitar and two super shitty tom drums duct taped together) featuring two current members of Myelin Sheaths (HoZac single coming soon!) and two past members of Endangered Ape (RIP).

I wont hesitate to say that this 7" has it all - songs about a rad French-Canadian Hot Dog joint in the heart of the Canadian Bible-Belt ("Ballad of the Red Dog"), girls ("Fuck Off Baby" and "Mike Molloy" - a song named after the proprietor of the local record shoppe, but actually about girls) and a mythical Lake Monster ("Ogo Pogo", which is actually a cover of Hubble Bubble's "Pogo Pogo" with the words changed around). Fans of Romance Novels, Nobunny, Hunx, Personal and the Pizzas will love this.

Also available in limited qualities (first come first serve here... I think we have like 20 of each left?)

The Ostrich - Mt. Fuji in Red 7" EP
A1: Mt. Fuji in Red
A2: Clean Room
B1: Rabies
B2: Braindrain

200 copies
www.myspace.com/theostrich

In mid-2008, at the top of their game and at the height of their popularity, The Ostrich broke up. In their wake, they left two 7" undistributed singles that they sold out (more or less) locally. The city of Calgary wanted to mark the breakup of The Ostrich with a municipal holiday (Ostrich Day), but the guys felt weird about it and let The Ostrich fade away into oblivion. Which is a shame, because the band (and especially their singles) are really, really good. Organ fuelled, post-punk jams with note-perfect production and a heavy dose of weird thrown in for good measure.

After the demise of The Ostrich, enigmatic front-man Chris Zaijko and drummer Mike Bressanutti went on to form Sharp Ends to great success (selling out their debut show at Broken City in Calgary with people eager to find out if Sharp Ends could live up to The Ostrich's legacy). Needless to say, the rest is history.

We were lucky enough to find two boxes of Mt. Fuji in Red (the 2nd 7", and my favourite of the two - "Rabies" alone is worth the price of admission!), and have about 30 left, so act quickly.

Moby Dicks CDR

Tour CDR (and companion piece to the Myelin Sheaths CDR), which we have a few copies remaining. This CDR was meant as a stop-gap until the 7" was ready, and features 4 songs from the 7" and 4 otherwise unreleased gems. Wheras the 7" displays the bubble-gum garage sensibilities, songs like "Always Be Around" and "Talk Money" have an almost MC5 meets 13th Floor Elevators vibe. Worth it for "Whiskey and Palm Trees" alone.

Myelin Sheaths CDR

This CDR features songs that will appear on Myelin Sheaths singles for HoZac and Bachelor records (as well as some songs that are on this and nothing else). This CDR has been somewhat of a sensation for us (since the Weird Canada review, we've sold out of most of these already). Nonetheless, we love this one, and think you will too. Still a few of the second (and final) press.

I am running an "on the cheap" service for digital download cards that you would put into a limited-run vinyl or cassette release. You've seen them in your records - little piece of paper with a URL and a code. I started this service when I wanted codes for my 100 run cassette, and all the download code services were going to charge me twice as much as the cassettes were going to cost. So far we've done codes for Dull Knife, Ol' Factory, Goner and Fan Death, as well as a few self releases.

We will maintain the files/site for a minimum of 5 years (though likely much longer), and provide customer service, redemption reporting. No setup fees. You get your own url (such as goner.transmitvinyl.com), and the code sheets are customizable. Once we receive payment, and you have uploaded the files, you recieve a .pdf of codes within one business day. Pretty simple!

For 7"/ EP Length:
$25 per 500 codes 192KB
$50 per 500 codes 320KB

For LP
$50 per 500 codes 192KB
$75 per 500 codes 320KB

(Compare Dropcards = $200 for 500  and URP is $225 per 500 192K / $500 for 500 320K "High Definition Download").

Non-Music Shit / Back End Split?
« on: January 19, 2009, 01:22:07 PM »
So there is this new venue in town, this shitty shitty town. I want to book shows there because the space is pretty awesome, they have an in-house PA and the other main venue in town is fucking terrible.

Anyways, the owner, this youngish hipster-y douche says I can start bringing in bands if I do him a favour and bring in his favourite band (think shitty DFA style dance punk). I say "sure", because I am desperate to start bringing bands to town that I like without the hassle of dealing with the other shitty venue.

DFA DANCE PUNK BAND have management, booking companies, all of this other shit that I am not used to dealing with. They say to me that "Sure, DFA DANCE PUNK BAND is available in your market", and they want to charge $1500 + a back end split. Not outrageous, but the most I have ever paid a band so I'm a tad nervous about the whole thing.

Question I have: what the fuck would the back-end split involve? Drink sales? Ticket sales? (max 125 capacity + and we are going to do $15 tix). Plus, I've got to book hotel rooms? Way out of my league here. Can't they just come sleep on my floor like normal people?

Termbros, please help!
