Eat Skull - Sick to Death (Punk Trips!)

Devon Williams- Careless LP (loving this - sounds like the entire Flying Nun discography distilled on one album. Nice followup to that single from last year)

I wouldn't leave out GBV circa 1996 (Under The Bushes Under The Stars - the last of the lo-fi era). A few of the Pollard solo albums were really great - I'm thinking Not in My Airforce (also from 1996) and Speak Kindly to Your Volunteer Fire Departmant (1999), which brought Pollard back to the basement 4-track recordings. Kid Marine is good too ("Far Out Crops" is one of my favourite Pollard songs).

Everything after that is spotty, but he still manages to write good songs even now, so.

Anyone have this (as in the special edition) yet?

I just got this split in the mail today. Really, really good.

It's hard to pick the worst thing here, but subjecting myself to The Nixon's "Happy Song" puts it right near the top of the shit-heap... All these bands learned all the wrong lessons from the Nirvana phenomenon.

My old band is called The Suicide Wrists...we're on one of the token "punk"shows. I actually thought the line-up was pretty much a dud. Besides a handful of decent bands...there's nothing that interests me.

I suppose I am looking at it from the perspective that 1) I am not likely to see more than a handfull of bands on any given day and 2) there are a few acts I have been wanting to see that I haven't been able to yet (WIRE, Jonathan Richman) that make the whole thing exciting and 3)I get to go for free.

One of my old bands is playing some indie rock fest next month...so is WIRE. They are playing two sets during the fest, on on a big, outdoor stage, and one at the Legion! Shitty thing is...we're playing the same night that they're playing the Legion. I'd hate to have to catch 'em on the outdooe stage, but the show we're playing (with BBQ and The Von Zippers) should be fun. Anyone caught them recently...how would they be in a festival setting?
Who is your old band? I am playing too (Endangered Ape). Hard to believe how good the Sled Island lineup is overall.

I have a split 7" from two  band from Edmonton (mid 90's?) Ladder Day Saints/Slugger. The Slugger side is kind of weak, but Ladder Day Saints side kills.

Can we bring "-core" back somehow?

I placed my order nine minutes after the pre-order email was sent out, and only got one gold (Headache City). Either you guys are faster than lightning or us smug europeans are finally getting the treatment we deserve.

All three records rule though.

Still don't have mine (in Canada), and am starting to worry about the same thing...

On average, how much cash do you need to do a 300 or so run 7"? I've always wondered this. $1000? More?

SK5 and SK8's both have reverse looping capabilities.

New documentary on the death of the record store. Here is the trailer:

Looks interesting to me, though I don't know if it is anything I don't already know / haven't already heard.
