Come by, say hi. I'm going to play Humble Pie and the Cowsills and the Wipers and some other stuff.

Hey

I have two tickets for the Cock Sparrer show in Philly, I can't go. I'd like to get $50 for the pair, and I can send them to you in the handy PDF that Ticket Flyer sent me.

Thanks

Hey all,

Heads up to anyone living in south Brooklyn (or anywhere in NYC for that matter), I'm playing records at Abilene in Carroll Gardens. Starting around 9:00 going late.

Dave Martin is joining me, so that's going to be awesome and reason enough to come on out.

Maybe I'll see you there.

Hey,

If you're down in South Brooklyn, stop by Abilene. I'm playing records from 9 to 2 (as I do the third Thursday of every month...except next month...probably...maybe).

punk and power pop and whatever else.

Abilene.

Non-Music Shit / The Occult/new age/pseudoscience books
« on: September 27, 2011, 08:31:50 AM »
Can anyone recommend good books that offer general overviews of various occult sects and pseudo science/new age movements? Anything/everything from the Golden Dawn to Orgone accumulators.

I'm not interested in any of this stuff on a practical or applicable level. I just think it's kind of fun to read about. I've tried reading actual Crowley texts for kicks and found them really, really boring.

I read the Source book about Yod and thought it was a great read.

Are there any intelligent, objective histories of this sort of thing?

Non-Music Shit / Replacing a stylus

Is this a simple process? I've never had to do it before. I'm DJing tomorrow night and it appears that one or perhaps both of my styluses (styli?) are fucked. Can I just walk into a store that sells them and buy new ones? It doesn't seem that simple. I'm thinking about just buying two new cartridges.

I hope you're getting this out in SF Vinnie.

Mixing things up a bit this month, as my friend Rebecca is joining me... she of Psychedelic Perversions and Fireball fame.(The latter an amazing short-lived all-female Brooklyn psych-sludge band. Their cover of "Archangel Thunderbird" is destructive.)

She's been rockin' a rural psych kind of vibe lately. So more choogle, less punk. But it'll still be great times.

Swing by.

For anyone that's into these guys, how impossible is it to track down their RECORDS?

I downloaded a bunch of stuff from the FMU Free Music Archive, but I'd like to grip some actual releases at some point. I couldn't really make the sense I needed to out of their discog on their Web site.

Anyway, I'm completely digging Cruisin' Classics.

Hey all,

I'll be playing records again tonight at Abilene in south Brooklyn. Looks like it's going to be a monthly thing.

Abilene is on Court Street at 3rd place. No surprises. Cheap beer. Only one turntable though, could be nutty.

Come by say hi.

9:00pm to 2:00am

And Harry if you read this and are able to swing it, bring one of the Normals records and I'll bring money.
