Part of the reason the forum died is the fact that it turned away from real non-ironic discussions which often turned into (fun to read) arguments into backslapping, lists of records, and funny picture/ass picture threads, which sadly became the best things on the site. The whole thing dumbed down to something a 13 year old could easily follow and eventually conversations on how terrible mainstream known-by-all tired warhorses like Yes and the Grateful Dead are more interesting subjects than truly great and much more unknown bands, which is and should remain the musical focus of the site. A sad and semi-recent turn.
Not sure about this, Todd. So are 13 year olds to blame for the decline of Terminal Boredom? I check this forum almost daily and I am left with the impression that a lot of the ''childish'' posts are written by men in their 30s, sometimes in their 40s. Should we section all grown men into underground music because they are unable to use speech in an adult manner when they describe their taste in music? Fuck that.
specializes in "hair" metal!Yeah, that's him. His column was the highlight of most issues. My MRR sub ran out over 2 years ago.Yeah, Graham Booth I think it was. There was a MRR columnist a few years who used to describe in detail his thrift store shirt finds, same guy who did the vinyl column maybe? I've got a NOFX shirt from '91 I guess that's worth a flip.Got a friend that doesn't even bother with vinyl in thrift stores anymore, heads straight for the t-shirt rack. You can pay your rent with fucking metal tees in the Midwest.
Yep, I know more than one person who makes a good chunk of rent on metal t-shirts in the area. One (Brett) used to post here.
