Jack-Alain LEGER (aka. Dashiell HEDAYAT) has killed himself today at the age of 66.
He was - under many pseudonyms - a writer, a novelist and a musician.

New Releases For Sale/Distro Updates / REPULSE's 1982 french 7"EP reissued

Here's a reissue some of you may find interesting:

REPULSE sole EP has been discretely reissued (300 ex) by a parisian friend on his brand new label: Cameleon Records. It's first reference.

REPULSE was a very obscure band initially from Cadiff (UK) having some links in Brest (french west regions, Bretagne to be precise), who did this 4 tracks EP in 1982 on Le Kiosque D'Orphee (a label who pressed small quantity of records on demand for all kind of persons - usually some shitty christian school choirs -), and vanished without a trace (The guy - now girl - behind it is Alana Camus Holland, you can check her site here: http://alanacamusholland.free.fr/biographie/bio.htm).

Musically, it's crude DIY hesitating between psychedelic freaks and punk. Totally odd, even in 1982... probably having the VELVET as a reference... no mix at all... Bass in front, a lot of fuzz, recorded in a living room... something of The MIRRORS or The STYRENES, but the worst of it... in fact, it's closer to The ROB JO STAR BAND, but rawer.
Yes, you got it, it's a gem!

I'm not involved with that reissue at all. But I know the guy and he's nice and trustful. His name is Claude.

I'm doing a compilation on cassette (nothing to be issued), that is made of songs sounding like Captain Beefheart or having a strong Magic Band reference... but no covers.
Until now, I only have found a fistful of songs.

So far it's :

Music Shit / The METHOD "Chances" (LP. 1981, UK)

On my "impossible to get top want list" here's "Chances" The Method's LP from 1981 (200 ex), it could be from The Desperate Bicycles' guitar player (this need confirmation).
Does anyone own this record... or can anyone say what does it sound like ?

Here's all I get about it :

Label: Heath Levy Music (catalogue number MET-AL 1)

Released: 1981 (original first pressing ?Made In The UK?)

Condition: the vinyl is near perfect. The sleeve is still excellent

Comment: only 200 copies were made. See punk book/bible ?45 Revolutions?. With the band is guitarist Paul of DESPERATE BICYCLES. The band METHOD is the same band who kicked out the excellent punk single ?Kings On The Corner/Dynamo? in 1977. This LP also includes the insert. Listen to 11 amazing tracks like ?Normally Abnormal? / ?Making Music Play? / ?Little Lazers? / ?Taking Liberties? and so on. I have never ever seen this LP for sale. Probably your only chance to bid on this ?Chances? LP
