Music Shit / Re: Starting A Record Label for Dummies

i really wish i would have taken the kim phuc 7" to prairie cat instead of sending it straight to united. in the mastering/cutting process we lost so much clarity in the mix, that i wanted to junk the thing. i had them recut it once, they got pissy with me about it, and it sounds passable but nothing really amazing. go to prairie cat first. have dan from mammoth do a premastering, it's cheap and the man is fast.

the advice about "only put out records you are okay with having 1000 copies of in your bedroom for 10 years" is great. i put out that conelrad ep, it only sold a hundred or whatever, but i love the band so much i don't care. i'm just glad to see the record come out.

Also ART showed me a public database for searching people's criminal records and we spent at least an hour going over all our friends' names we know.
I just gotta say...SMARTNICK, STOP RUNNIN RED LIGHTS.

that is private information, this was completely uncool to post, and FUCK RED LIGHTS.

Non-Music Shit / Re: Danelectro Guitar
« on: June 11, 2008, 05:51:28 PM »
i've had an old silvertone forever - basically the same thing as an electro. fucking great. easy to play. the action is fluid. played it at hundreds of punk shows and never had to retune it.  the only thing i didnt like was the lipstick pick-up. so i removed it and replaced it with a humbucker and it has a nice deep, link wray rumble sound to it. i've played the electro reissues - both guitar and bass - and they played nice and no problems.

for people with small hands they are great. the necks are small and the action is easy. because of that and because they are inexpensive and reliable, they are a great starter guitar for teens.

yo man, i fyou still have that lipstick pickup laying around, and want rid of it, get at me. i need another one for a backup guitar at some point.

they are garbage guitars. you are better off buying a 60's lipstick pick up and then installing it into a real guitar that will stay in tune. unless of course you are some vampire weekend sack dragon and want to be out of tune.
