Can't say I was a huge fan of his, because I wasn't, but regardless I'm really sorry to hear about this. One thing I give Reatard credit for is broadening the musical spectrum of the garage punk crowd. I remember people being a bit confused with the Lost Sounds initially, at least in Finland. Although I'm not claiming he's been the sole reason for this progress, nor that everyone was closeminded before, I do think that especially the Lost Sounds made people more responsive to different sounds and paved the way for the so called "Glue Wave" stuff, even if they weren't necessary an influence for many of these bands. That people seem to be tired of this phenomenon now is a different matter. My condolences to those here that were close to him.
