Music Shit / Re: Records are really expensive
« on: February 10, 2018, 12:22:03 PM »
Couldn't agree more!  thought it was just me.

I miss the the 90's & early 00's when most people were buying CDs & records were cheaper than CDs.  I could go to Aron's records w/ $20.00 & walk out w/ 2 new records or 4-5 really good used records. The same used records that I see priced well over $20.00 now. I mostly buy records at thrift shops & garage sales & I started buying tapes again something I never thought I would do.

She recently issued a statement since all this went down.

http://tonedeaf.com.au/record-label-drops-one-bands-beliefs-immigration/

Dream Machines statement

First of all, we know in our hearts that we aren?t racists or fascists and we fully denounce all forms of hatred and intolerance. I am a female immigrant from Bosnia and have immigrated twice, once as a refugee from Bosnia to the Netherlands and once to the United States.

I made these comments because I felt I came from a position to do so as I am the things that most people seem to want to protect; a woman, an immigrant, a refugee and somebody who is a descendant of muslim grandparents as well as a great-grandfather who fought in the Yugoslavian Partisan army in the second world war. He killed approximately 100 nazi?s and fought for the freedom and liberation of his country. In return, he was killed, as well as 4 out of his 6 children, leaving my great-grandmother alone and stranded. If there?s one thing that we are absolutely not, it would be fascists, racists or anything of the sort.

As for my comments on feminism, I was merely commenting on the fact that I feel that most female musicians tend to almost always sing about and support feminism and all I was saying is that I do not support all sides of feminism. We condemn any form of sexual assault or acts against women based on their gender. I think there are certain problems in third wave feminism that need to be addressed, but I do feel the original meaning of feminism is a beautiful one, giving women the freedom to be whoever they want to be.

We didn?t wish to hurt anyone but we do believe rock music and punk music aren?t safe and should stay that way. Punk was never about fitting in, it was about expressing differentiating views no matter what the cost is and I think the music scene has been overly active with left-wing politics, so much so that anyone disagreeing with them is immediately dropped from their label.

For the comments on immigration, the only thing I commented on is that I was glad that ICE is deporting CRIMINALS who come here (part of gangs, for example), not innocent people. Of course we?re not against immigration, otherwise I wouldnt be here myself!

Either way, this will not hold us back and we will continue to make music and want to thank all the people that are standing up for us, we truly appreciate it.

"Swingers" and "Early Volume" now available on Bandcamp

Slug?s first recordings, all made between 1991 and 1994, are now available for the first time as digital download from Slug?s Bandcamp page.

"Swingers" is a re-issue of our first album, an EP originally released on 10″ vinyl in 1992. It includes three never-before-released tracks: ?Diesel?, ?Horrible Skull? and an alternate recording of ?Swingers? with backing vocals by Carla R. Bozulichh and Beth Capper".

"Early Volume" is a new anthology of our singles and tracks from various compilations we appeared on over the years. Most of the tracks on this are available for the first time in a digital form.

We thank you for your interest and support and hope you will welcome these prodigal albums home.

Ordered from Goodbye Boozy Records & never got my order. However I did contact GBR & he reshipped my order & I got it the 2nd time around minus the 2 records that had sold out. That was about 5 years ago. Maybe things have improved.

Music Shit / Re: Music Documentaries

Loved the Damned doc.  Could have used some more 70's footage, there's not much in the extras.  Also I thought the Captain would be annoying before I watched it & I was completely wrong. He's really funny & a great story teller.

Regular 3 day passes for sale again as of this afternoon.  Seems a little weird an In The Red Show would offer VIP tickets in the first place.. wonder if it was the clubs idea?

I don't even bother w/ the record shops in AZ anymore, there's thrifts shops on almost every corner in central Phoenix. I usually come home with a pretty good haul.

I've noticed a ton of new buyers as well.  The international ones are always shocked at the shipping prices (as they should be) & I end up cancelling a lot of orders.

this pretty interesting,
