Below is the general update I've been sending out but I forgot to mention one crucial thing of particular interest to youse guys...So Cow is going to be playing at 1-2-3-4 Go! on Sunday June 7th at 3pm. It's free and after church so you don't have any excuses churchy.


Hey Everyone,
 
        As we roll in to June and the Stores second summer (number 8 for the label for those keeping score!) we've got a whole lot going on to talk about and a request for a little help if you can spare it. Moving in to a larger space has it's expenses as you can imagine. Everything from renovation to actually buying the stock to fill it...and we've filled it pretty well over the last 3 months if you ask me! Business has greatly improved in the new space and I want to thank everyone who's come out for all the support. Truly we wouldn't be here without it. However as we close out this month we could use a little extra juice to power us through. We continue to get great new and used records in every week as well as putting out own records from everyone from local bands like Nobunny and Shannon & The Clams to bands from across the country like Ringers, Snuggle, The Sneaky Pinks, Cute Lepers and more. The unfortunate fact about these things is that they cost money to order and produce. What a drag right? At any rate I'd like to put the word out to all you locals to come in this weekend if you have a chance and check out what we've got and lay down a little cash if you find something you like. We're stocked to the gills with new used arrivals and new releases, we've got snazzy t-shirts in stock and a host of good magazines and what not for you to paw through. Any little bit definitely helps. For those of you who aren't local if you could take a moment to peruse the website at http://www.1234gorecords.com (hit the store button) you can check out all the new records we have in stock at the moment. Including some things some folks might call "eBay gold". Have a gander! We're not in danger of going out of business...we're just a bit strapped at the moment and could use a little shove out of the ditch. So don't be scurred. Anyway on to a mountain of news!!!
 
 
THE JUNE ART SHOW: STROKES OF BLACK
 
We're having our latest art opening on June 5th from 6pm to 9pm featuring pen and ink pieces by local artists; Matthew Decker, Obi Kaufmann, Alison Tharp and Duncan Cook. The show will be up for the remainder of June if you can't make it out but these things are always fun so you should come out. Beverages and snackables provided!

This has never been properly distributed and was primarily available at Sneaky Pinks and Nobunny shows over the years. We've teamed up with Rubber Vomit Records to repress it so you don't have to pay $50 on eBay for it like some guy just did! Nutty! We've got 200 copies on Blue vinyl available for mail order and in the store. Black vinyl copies are headed to distros as we speak. We've got plenty of Blue left if you want one so order away! RINGERS "HURRY UP AND WAIT" 12": 7 new songs (roughly 20 minutes of music) from the only band in New England that matters. That's right, I said it! Well written, melodic punk that Todd from Razorcake thinks sounds like a cross between Bent Outta Shape and The Clash. I say that's close enough if you like band comparisons! We have around 50 copies left of the 200 we did on Clear vinyl for mail order and the store if you need one. THIS WILL NOT BE IN OTHER STORES FOR AT LEAST A MONTH! When it finally is available to the rest of the world it'll be on black vinyl in a pro-printed sleeve. I've got silk screened covers for now. HELLO SHITTY PEOPLE "S/T" LP: The long lost full length recorded in 2001! Gritty southern pop punk with bass parts that make Matt Freeman look like a rank amateur. I'm half joking. Mike Collins is a mad man. If you dig on old timey East Bay pop punk and bands like Future Virgins, Snuggle, Hickey, Los Canadians etc you're going to love this thing. Also...best band name ever. SNUGGLE / NO HIGH FIVES TO BULLSHIT split 7": My favorite band from Seattle in the last 5 years or so and a band from Denver not afraid to call out all this unnecessary high fiving that's been going on lately! Both bands contribute two songs of gravely heart broken pop punk sing alongs. And not that "everything is so great, let's all go ride bikes and hug" sort of gravely pop punk. But the kind that's bummed out about stuff. The good kind. Not that riding bikes and hugging isn't great. This should be out in late June as well. Oh and full color cover art by Henderson!!! Something this retarded needs the strength of two labels to keep it in print. Rubber Vomit and 1-2-3-4 Go! are tag teaming the first Sneaky Pinks 7" and re-releasing it in late may. We're doing 200 blue vinyl copies for mail order purposes and black vinyl for stores and what nots. Since this is so close to being done I'm including the maaaassssive mail order update with it as well. So if you want to order the Sneaky Pinks and some other stuff I'll take your money and hold on to the other stuff until the 7" is ready to go. So I come in to work today and find out that someone finally did something about that prick DA McGraw. The guy was a serious fucking asshole and although no one was surprised or really gave a shit, we had to at least pretend to look for whoever did us all this fucking favor. Gruesome shit though. Ripped his guts out and threw them all over the ground like a fucking pi?ata. Personally I'd like to give who ever did it a medal and a god damn parade. But that's beside the point. Anyway we're getting briefed about this whole thing and this fucking Doctor comes in. Dr. Steigner? Anyway he's going on and on about zombies with fucking "atom brains" being responsible for this shit. I know right? What does that even mean? Exactly what is an atom brain? I mean what powers would a nuclear powered brain give someone besides fucking cancer? According to this fucking mook it makes people zombies that are impervious to bullets. What the fuck ever. If you want to believe that shit you can. I leave fucking laughing and head out to check out the scene. I'm poking around the garage and who the fuck do I see but some zombie looking homeless motherfucker rummaging through the place going on and on about being someone called Buchanan and how he promised to see me die. Can you believe this shit? He starts coming towards me so I pull out my service revolver and squeeze off a few. I'll be god damned if they didn't bounce right the fuck off his forehead. You see this shit right here? Above my ear? I didn't do this shaving. One of my own fucking bullets ricocheted off this guy and grazed my head. I'm not proud of this but I fucking peaced out after that. Seriously. I threw up two fingers and bounced. It'd be funny if I hadn't fucking pissed myself a second before. What the fuck would you have done when confronted with some zombie asshole that's impervious to bullets? I like being a cop man but the retirement plan isn't that good. It's 20 minutes of music and we're doing 200 on Clear vinyl (with silk screened covers) for this tour and pre-orders. I will be cutting pre-orders off at 100 though so they can be sure to have some for the tour. I think these are seriously 7 of the best songs they've ever written. This will also probably be out a month before the proper sleeved version since they haven't completed that cover art yet...believe me I'm working on them.

So it's been open for a few weeks now and I'm just now getting around to posting photos of the mostly completed store. I imagine it'll always be a work in progress but there's some bigger elements missing from it right now. For those of you who don't know this little turd is located in the scenic southern Temescal neighborhood of Oakland, CA at 423 40th street on the corner of Webster and 40th. Just 3 short blocks from the MacArthur BART!
