I rarely go out of my way to listen to Brian Jones era Stones. It's mostly all Exile, Stick Fingers and Goats Head Soup for me, with Exile being the best.

I never listen to the Weasel anymore though still have a soft spot overall but Boogada is not very good. Just about everything after it is. I still consider Green Day as being good but only the Lookout records. I never liked Dookie.

I love that song but it's hard to match CJ screaming C'Mon!!! Did they ever do a studio version of that song?

I got most of them and have to say the Bassholes one stands out the most. I'm a Howland fan but not an authority, and these two songs sound different from most of the stuff I've heard with fiercer lead guitar that I'm used to. Really good.

Here to agree with Rick on greatness of VSS live and 'Nervous Circuits.'

It's been years, but I've been really stoned and rocked out to that record good. I wouldn't consider it emo.

Most of the emo I remember growing up was really disjointed and abstract structurally. Most of those bands have already been mentioned. The emo on the radio now is basically pop punk with a different effect on the guitars and slightly different vocals.

I saw the Dismemberment Plan before too and they were fucking terrible. The AC was out in the place (Tampa) and it was crowded so it made it all the more unbearable. I can't believe people get into that shit (even if it's just to score chicks) and can't believe people that look way more rebelious than I do think that's cutting edge.

Living in Florida for the 90s, I've seen countless terrible emo, screamo, hardcore, and indie bands. But perhaps the worst band of any reputation I've seen was Le Shok. What made this worst is even the people who thought they liked them thought they were terrible. They showed up with these California everyone loves us attitudes and they really couldn't even play their instruments. They didn't get any reaction from the hipsters who I thought were planning on liking them and they called it a set in about 15 minutes and pouted off stage.

Had A Bad Day would be the most recent all-time terrible song.

So only ONE mention of Toby Keith???  How bout "How Do You Like Me Now?"  FUCK, even "We Built This City" (which is undeniable shit to understate it) doesn't make me really want to kill.  Literally, if I have a gun when any Toby Keith song comes on, deaths will abound.  That "Talk About Me" song is just as bad.  I still haven't heard "If I Was Jesus."

What's that ultra-patriotic song I think Toby Keith does? That shit makes me want to put on a beret.

I don't think mentioned so far, but one of my favorite Delta blues guys is Mississippi John Hurt. He's got the usual guitar sound but the vocals are kinda quiet and sweet. Very moving.

I'll also throw a heavy nod to Elmore James.

I also highly recommend Elmore James. He may be my favorite blues performer. Think a little wilder guitar sound than most of the Chess catalog (minus Howlin' Wolf) with unpolished, passionate vocals, and a good variety of song styles. Any record is worth owning.

"Murder" is a live favorite, as sung by Dana Hatch, whose drumming style was once aptly described to me as "he looks like a fuckin' robot when he plays" (by one of the Indiana crew).  And he does!  And it rules!

Yeah, he doesn't even use a high hat. Weirdness.
