Reatard / Re: 6 years

I was cleaning my house Thursday night, which was I guess one day after the anniversary. Completely untouched, my iPod started blasting music through the headphones. I picked it up and the lock button was on and the volume was much louder than I would have normally left it. Reatards were playing.

80's cheeseball dude?
I just happened to be watching the Five Years documentary a few days ago and Nelson George brought up how Bowie's 80s pop may seemingly not be all that respectable, but super heavyweights like Mick Jagger have tried multiple times to make those kinds of songs and utterly failed yet Bowie succeeded as that middle aged adult male pop icon. It's not easy. Mick would have given his left nut to have written "Let's Dance" for She's The Boss.

and this is my favorite bowie video, nice and sloppy, almost goes off the rails a couple times.  the vocals and guitar hold it together nicely, the drums and bass are loose yet cautious, laid back.  an amazing video document of how the glam rock sound was created, the foundation based on simple rock n roll, and a raw, powerful attitude...

That's pretty killer and shows you his talent how he can take the most generic blues riff imaginable and make it into an interesting song and big hit.

I don't think anyone saw Porzingis doing what he is doing. He is seemingly the most immediately ready lottery big man everyone thought would need a lot of time to develop since Amare Stoudemire.

Still surprising to me.  There have been plenty of college players who put up crazy offensive numbers and games in college and went to the pros and either flamed out or are mediocre role players at best
Agreed. I'll admit I thought Curry had bust potential as a prospect because as you say the NBA has frequently not been kind to undersized shoot-first point guards. I thought at his worst he might be like Trey Burke or best case would be Steve Francis. I definitely didn't see Curry as some future transcendent player.

I find this to be an ironic thread bump because I'm of the opinion if you like regular straight forward rock-oriented punk, 2005-2009 or so was a pretty great period. Much better than right now.

I just heard this for the first time and it really reminded me of American Soul Spiders.

There was a real marked difference between '93 skating and '96 skating. It was evolving on almost a monthly basis. You couldn't get away with half the tricks you did in '93 by '96. Pressure flips, varial flips, double kickflips, noseslide to k-grind tranfers -- no, bro. They were out.
I skated from 92-96 and definitely remember when I first started there were tons of different tricks and a year or so later everyone just focused on doing 5-10 "classic" tricks cleanly.

RIP Pressure Flips, gone but not forgotten
My friend used to do so many pressure flips, well past when everyone else stopped doing them, the end of his board would be as pointy as a pencil.

I have to go with Hank Wood and the Hammerheads, and I don't even really like hardcore.

Casting Couch #2 is the first paper zine I've bought in probably 15 years. I think I liked the Home Blitz and Ryan Richardson interviews the best.
