it's not so much a case of going to ground in PDX as having moved to SF in late 2015.

waiting on the two comet gain reissues. trying to remain optimistic.

Hopefully ER or somebody issues the Slum of Legs demo on vinyl.
would buy
would too, but apparently they're mixing an album at the moment, for which all three songs from the demo have been re-recorded.

the band name + title + label name combo is great! (sounds pretty good, too)

Music Shit / Re: The story behind The Aislers Set

a really good article. this was the other one i particularly liked in the recent flurry of press. old termbo thread here.

the london chickfactor show in late 2012 was fantastic, as good as any of the times they played here in 2001 or 2003. i'd forgotten what a killer live band they are. wish i'd been able to go to one of these shows, sf especially. still, all being well my copies of the reissues will arrive this week.

had kind of lost track of lukas moodysson's films, despite having loved show me love and together way back when. the two after that were both good but totally different in mood, and then i somehow didn't even see the next couple. saw we are the best! last weekend. it's really great.

i think only the deluxe version of the book (w/ 7")  includes the download code. costs about the same to buy regular book + vinyl (fewer songs than on cd/dl version) separately and less for regular book + cd.

they were as good if not better at the reunion shows as they were first time around. i think there was a second round of uk reunion shows too, maybe.

anthology box set must happen sometime!

ff singer was in the yummy fur too, towards the end: he went by a different surname then (huntley).

rough trade had the first 12", so i'm hoping copies of this one make it over here too.  the songs are ace.

my favourite zine.

books aside, in the past few years there've been #5 1/2 (hunt's donuts), #6 (buenos aires), #7 (miami) and #9 (black flag).

anyone know whether there's a scam #8?

meaning to these maps 7"

i didn't make a new release thread for it, so i'll take the liberty of using this one to say that it's:
-- streamable here.
-- available in the usa from jigsaw & sorry state.
-- been described as:
"catchy as fuck" (bis aufs messer)
"super sweet diy pop" (collective zine)
"full of urgency & fun & politics & pop" (a layer of chips)
"one of the best bands i've heard in quite some time" (jigsaw)
"the lyrics are likeable & funny, the tunes are dead catchy" (norman records)
"inventive, creative & energetic within a very gratifying pop template" (sorry state)
"charmingly trashy, minimalistic & very british sounding in a tvps / times kinda way" (x-mist)
"pleasant & charming & worth your time if you don't consider cheesy lyrics a cardinal sin" (mrr)

Music Shit / Re: mid-year best of 2012.5 lists?

bright ideas saturdays and the turning tide (squirmy)
deep time s/t (hardly art)
noh mercy s/t (superior viaduct)
woolf the right way to play (la vida es un mus)
Only heard that Deep Time this morning on the commute to work ...absolute utter trust-fund GUFF!... So bad i came on here just to say it wasted a good twenty minutes of my life; and to suggest other people avoid a similar fate... I bet that vocalist thinks she's the fucking shit. And the band actually thinks they're actually writing songs to accompany her whooping cacophony.... Definitely a Pitchfork 8+'er though I'd reckon...

Be warned.
interesting. i reckon of the four records i listed it would come in only third in the whooping cacophany stakes.
