Non-Music Shit / 2010 Senate Race

Surprised no thread about this yet.  After the epic Palin thread I thought there would at least be a Christine O'Donnell slam fest.

Music Shit / Jacuzzi Boys "No Seasons" LP
« on: November 10, 2009, 01:04:45 PM »
Was kind of a late bloomer on this band, didn't really get into them until the Woven Bones split.  Tahiti Amin hooked me up with the record while I was in Orlando couple weeks ago, such a solid release.  Anybody else heard this?

Non-Music Shit / Question for TB Canadians
« on: July 13, 2009, 09:13:20 PM »
Without going into a huge sob story... I was diagnosed with Epilepsy 12 years ago, it is only getting worse, and I don't have health insurance.  I'm going to be in BC in late August on tour, what would I have to do to get medication while I am there?  I got some in Mexico no problem, it was almost too easy.  Any help would be great.

For sale now on Woodsist

FERGUS & GERONIMO- "Harder Than It's Ever Been" 7" (WOODSIST027) ----> $7.00 postage paid dollars

Fergus & Geronimo are Jason Kelly and Andrew Savage. You might know them from Wax Museums and Teenage Cool Kids respectively.
What started as a recording project between friends has manifested into another extraordinary addition to the Denton, TX roster of current bands.
Upon first listen, one can instantly recognize these two lads are intimately familiar with their influences. Never mind the psychedelia, this is straight pop, no bullshit.
Debut vinyl release. first edition of 500

Non-Music Shit / Phono cartridge recommendations?
« on: July 01, 2009, 07:08:59 AM »
My Shure cartridge finally gave up the ghost.  I'm looking to upgrade, but I need something fast.  Looking for a midrange cartridge (60-150) that is durable, not a pain in the ass to setup, and sounds great.  I'm leaning towards Grado right now, any other suggestions?

Music Shit / Fav late 90's early 00's thrash/hardcore?
« on: June 30, 2009, 08:17:37 PM »
Been revisiting a lot of this stuff nostalgically lately.  Standouts include:

Lifes Halt
Society of Friends
What Happens Next?
Kung Fu Rick
DS-13
Crudos
Spazz

And anything off 625/Slap-A-ham comps...

anybody else?

Music Shit / Daptone Records
« on: June 06, 2009, 02:19:20 PM »
Anybody else into this label?  Just checked out Naomi Shelton & the Gospel Queens and it is fantastic.  All recordings are anologue, and every release seems to have an accompanying 45 single with it, which I guess I would only consider unusual for a gospel label today, then again I don't know much about gospel.  Anyway, I'm definitely going to pick up this record.

Having Phat Camp again this year.  Its a three day house show (mostly) fest.  Ask any band that played last year, they'll tell you it was a blast.  Expect the same this year.  May 15-17.

Cause they gave Teenage Cool Kids a cease and desist.  Pretty hilarious/lame.
