Music Shit / Re: 2015; 6 months gone already, what's been good?

ffs - it's been out a week and it's already my favorite of the year. Sparks never cease to amaze.

Land of the Lost is great. I love The Freeze. But they're from Connecticut. Yes, they are on Boston Not LA (actually my fave stuff on that comp), but still. Also, they're not really a hardcore band, even at their fastest.

Also, FU's are cool but they don't stick to my ribs like Jerry's Kids for me.

The Freeze is actually from Cape Cod. MA, not CT. Not sure if this disqualifies them from the Boston hardcore sweepstakes though.

When I saw Poison Idea last year, it was Jerry A and bunch of ringers. That being said they were really good. Most of the set was Feel The Darkness.

Anyone else still waiting on their guttergods lp from video disease? Three months, no replies to emails. Should I assume this is officially a lost cause?
Hopefully you get it. If I were you, I wouldn't order anything from him again. Pathetic service.

Second this motion. He is a nice guy and will make it up to you, but the wait is often not worth the apologetic action

Yeah I already decided that. I had ordered from him in the past with no problems.

I will also put in a positive vote for katorga. It usually takes some time for the stuff to show up, but it always does. I know to expect some time when I order from them now, so I don't sweat it if it takes over a month. I'd say if you're going to order from them or video disease, expect that things may take a little time to show up. And I'm waiting on the gutter gods lp too. I've never had a problem with video disease, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt until I do.

Music Shit / Re: The "Why isn't this reissued on vinyl thread?" Part 2

I've never understood why the Effigies stuff has never been reissued. Anyone know the story behind that?

fuck norton, the first order i did with them for my shop came warped. out of maybe 30 different titles we were able to salvage less than ten. when we contacted them they said keep the jackets send the wax. when we received our package after some time of waiting we have the same problem. we called miriam and explained the situation and assured her i hated telling her this and how big of fans we are at the shop etc and she snapped at us claiming in 30 years of business she's never EVER had a warping issue. we asked if the vinyl was new or involved with the flood and she got terribly insulted and demanded the records back and refused to deal with it any further while billy is in the background cursing up a storm about never selling warped records...fuck em. its a shame because these midwest assholes love that shit

Too funny, I received the same exact response when I got a warped record from them. They did replace it, but stated that they've never ever had a warping issue in the past.

Ordered from punk n vomit once. I ordered two records, they only sent one of the two. I told them this, they apologized then a month goes by and the second record still hasnt showed up. I send another email and they tell me to calm down and the record is going out the next day. Another month and a half goes by and the record finally shows up. Yeah, pretty sure I'm not ordering from them again.

I've had better luck ordering from video disease than katorga for that type of hardcore. Katorga has always been slow when I ordered. Video disease always turned orders around quickly. Great selection too.

Every time I have seen him the last few years, it's been basically the same thing. Him dressed like a yoga instructor, sings a few hits, some deep cuts, people dance to 'lesbian bar' and everyone goes home happy. This was fun for the first two times, third time was like really lame deja vu. Definitely fun to see a first time as a fan.

Pretty fair assessment. I tend to see him once a year, because my wife loves going to see him. Very similar every time, but he tends to switch songs up a little bit and we always have fun. Just expect to hear a fair amount of whatever his newest album is. We'll be attending in Boston in a few weeks and I'm looking forward to it.

Music Shit / Re: New records and "acceptable" warpage
« on: May 01, 2013, 05:38:43 PM »
Same thoughts here, I'm finding a lot new records I buy have that level of warpage too. I thought I was having bad luck too. I let it go because the records still play fine...

Music Shit / Re: LP broken down into 7" box sets
« on: March 10, 2013, 09:20:07 AM »
My question is - does anyone sit down and listen to the whole album and flip/change the 7" for each song or do they listen to one song here and there? If it's collectors item, I get it. If you're sitting next to your turntable and flipping a record each song, then...well, I just don't got the patience for that nonsense.
